Cancel the NBA

I get it.

s-l200.jpg
In typical liberal fashion, you make it about race...#1 play from the liberal playbook...
But I was referring to the 80s & 90s since I'm only 42...

I honestly just can't imagine going through life making decisions about my shopping and entertainment based so much on politics.

And I literally work in politics.

That’s refreshing to hear because the current climate is boycott central. Look no further than Goya. So you’d buy Goya right now?

I buy Goya beans all the time. They are delicious.

Are you going to also stop buying all Chinese goods and supporting any companies that have major presences in China? If not, you're just playing political "gotcha", and it's real fvckin' tiresome out of some of you people. You don't care about this, you just want to stick it to the NBA because their black players have the unmitigated gall to want to improve black life in America. Take your weak sh!t somewhere else.

--Mr. DT

you’re full of shit. NBA social justice warriors have proven to be hypocrites. “Improve black life in America.” Give me a damn break. How about speak out against the problem of single parent homes in the black community ? How about speak
Out against the senseless murders happening every day ? How About protest against the disproportionate number of innocent black children murdered in planned parenthood clinics ?

I refuse to buy products from companies that support limiting 2nd Amendment rights, support organizations led by Marxists (like BLM), or support division.
I will not in any way help my enemies.

I'm curious to hear specifically which companies you don't shop at?

I'll just continue to not care what a sports league or athlete says/does politically and enjoy the product they put out.

It seems like way too much work to be angry and offended by political posturing from anyone, especially an entertainment figure/entity.

This. There are a lot of snowflakes and people looking to be offended ITT.

Do you actually care about any of those things or fully understand the nuance to those situations?

Enemies seems a pretty strong statement for fellow Americans that may have different political opinions than you.

Also the research that would require sounds exhausting.

Why is this funny to you? The NBA made a deal with a Communist regime that suppresses dissent and anyone that doesn't toe the party line for $$$$. You know sorta like the way your party tries to do in this country. And you think it's funny? When exactly did you become a disciple of Mao? Was it in your childhood or were you indoctrinated over time? Holy shit you are stupid

you realize most MAGA hats are made in China right m?

I don't really watch NBA, Like As In Never. Not since the 90s. I'm more of a Lambert type guy. Those days are long gone. Bunch of whiney ass poon jobs with Commie visions now. Shvt on that. What makes you think I'm going to watch a bunch of spoiled shvts with millions at their disposal in this supposed bubble? And I'm supposed to feel sooooooorry for them because of their tournament conditions? How about donating some of those millions to orgs that need it? Will never happen.

"Well, The NBA can go Jump In The Lake", said Stan when asked by Nells what he thought Biff said about what Cleve thought about The Association. Then that dude Steve chimed in and said "yeah frack them dudes, I would rather watch Badminton"

"But then that means we would have to eat eggs with beans and tomatoes prior to the Badminton Tournament??"

Cancel it. No one GAF this late in the summer about the Fracking NBA. Please make it go away and put some pig skin on natural turf on a hot day. MmmKTHXBYE

This is disgusting...

All that political posturing in the last couple of months and this was going on. The NBA bent over backwards to apologize to China last October.

Uighur Lives Matter.

I love all the new advocates of CANCEL CULTURE emerging in this thread!

I personally said the NBA should've taken a stand when the censoring was happening in the stands and that the coaches and players were wrong (I loved the hypocrisy of Clay Travis all of a sudden wanting to inject politics into sports, but Clay gonna Clay for the clicks).

But this is where all the capitalist free market guys are supposed to jump in and say the NBA is a business and they can be apolitical if they want to make money, right? You guys aren't being consistent.

The NBA is a corporate entity that only looks after itself and the bottom-line and tries to force its employees to do tow that line. I'm glad people are pushing back against them. If men (or global corporate multinationals) were angels, there would be no need for govt (or smart regulations).

Uighur Lives do Matter.

I will never watch another NBA game until Lebron retires AND the league repudiates communist.

They won't miss you.
Lebron James is good for Basketball.
Steph Curry is good for Basketball.
Clay Thompson is good for Basketball.
Patrick Ewing is good for Basketball.
Scott Drew is good for Basketball.

Your associating Communism with guys taking advantage of a free market.
What kind of American are you?

BTW,
Calipari is bad for basketball.
Bill Self is bad for Basketball.
The little Roach Coach in Arizona is bad for Basketball.
AAU is also, but that's just my opinion.

Planned parenthood clinics are a WNBA issue. LOL

Alot of these guys have been been doing more than just speaking out about violence for years. NBA Cares programs and participants have provided more than 5 million hours of hands-on service, created more than 1,300 places where kids and families can live, learn or play and engaged more than 51 million youth in basketball programs in communities around the world. NBA Cares has created more than 323 places where kids and families can live, learn, or play in 40 countries. These guys have also donated more than 270 million dollars to charities and community organizations.
I have to give it to David Stern when he pushed this agenda to teams in 2005. The bottom line is that they responded well above the 100 million dollar goal he set. In 2015-2016 Lebron James paid for 1100 FULL RIDE college scholarships. Then he doubled down and pledged to send another 2300 kids to school on FULL RIDE scholarships. @ 40k a pop that's well over 135 million dollars. From one guy.
I don't like his teams but the dude puts his money where his mouth is. He can't fix it all but this guy is making a difference.

Many of The NBA players themselves are donating their own salaries to the employees to help them through this COVID crisis.

But a few guys speak out against things that are clearly wrong and we want to have a conniption fit. So where is the hipocracy?

This is asinine, slanted jackassery is what people are trying to do away with and some of us are holding on to these narrow minded threads. Keep holding on. We are moving forward with or without you.

NO YOU ARENT?!?
I was born in December of '77 so unless my math is off, I'm currently 42 years old...

Guess I'm just wise beyond my years...

That's not to say I haven't made mistakes along the way though...I voted for Clinton in '96 & Gore in 2000.........YIKES!!

Thank God I've grown up a lot since then!

I find forced labor offensive to my sense of human dignity. I find China’s systematic eradication of a minority group to be offensive to my solidarity to fellow man. Does that make me a snowflake? Lots of people ignoring the allegations against the NBA ITT.

NBA was great in the 80s. Complete and utter garbage now. Won't watch a second of it
You mean when cocaine use was rampant throughout the league? It's wonderful that we all have a choice in life in terms of what we watch and to each his or her own.

I’m sure the NBA has contributed to many charitable causes. So did Jeffrey Epstein, so did the Nazis. They are not as bad as those people (and not as bad as the Chinese regime to which they have yoked themselves), but they have to answer for this:

What made the 80s so great was the sheer number of Hall of Famers on the court when the Celtics and Lakers met. Tiny Archibald, Larry Bird, Dennis Johnson, Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Bill Walton, Magic Johnson, Bob McAdoo, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and James Worthy. That's 10 by my count. Not bad

I don't watch the NBA because I think it's an abomination to Basketball to limit teams to playing certain types of defense to OPEN UP THE GAME.

So now the agenda is the low hanging fruit, someone raise thier hand if they didn't know that American Companies were involved?

So are you boycotting all business who do business with China? What’s your stance here?

I wish I could. Chinese products are ubiquitous, and things which are “American made” often included Chinese components. But this goes beyond simply “doing business with China,” don’t you think? American coaches are being sent by the NBA to work in camps where boys are being beaten.

How they take money from the Chinese market is very, very different from the NBA's dealings with China.
TV money from China, tours of china, sponsors from China. And yet I don't hear them taking a stand against anything China related.

Glass houses and what not.

Again, taking money from China isn't anything like how the NBA takes marching orders from them. I'm yet to see United do a single thing based solely upon how it will be received by the Chinese government. In fact, show me where United has taken a stand against anything that the league wasn't doing as a whole.
You think if someone spoke out against China for Manchester United, the PL wouldn't be in a similar situation?

Manchester United (or any PL team) haven't said one thing about Chinese politics, and yet the cash flows in. Odd.

Fact is, companies toe this line when they deal with China. Not just the NBA.
