CDC has revised the Covid death total...

nice change of subject dude

Admit your original link that started this didn't go the way you wanted it to

My tune has been consistent since the inception of this conversation. The idea you believe any of these numbers are accurate is the humor. The link changes not a thing.

you literally said "CDC has revised the Covid death total" and that's not what happened at all... you are the one who linked to numbers, and now you're saying not to believe any numbers

Classic 5 year-old losing an argument behavior. Go back to timeout

Go back and show me one time I’ve ever agreed with any of the numbers. I’ll hang up and listen.

probably when you linked to a bunch of NUMBERS to start this entire thread! Good lord

Again, please show me where I agreed to any numbers in any Covid conversation on TI... you’re missing the point. Would you like me to link an article to the projections from 4 weeks ago?

So you can understand... they’re all wrong.

“Data during this period are incomplete because of the lag in time between when the death occurred and when the death certificate is completed, submitted to NCHS and processed for reporting purposes. This delay can range from 1 week to 8 weeks or more, depending on the jurisdiction, age, and cause of death.”

Some state’s like NC have not reported anything to CDC yet and have 0 deaths listed.

CDC’s estimate will not be accurate for many months until they can do a full demographic study to compare expected deaths of all cases to actual deaths during this time.

Odd, because when they report death totals or projections the mass media has ZERO problem reporting anything as rock solid fact. But in this case, the CDC report must be rejected because all polls are not in. While we are at it maybe we should just hold off in general on what we report because you know the MASSIVE amount of people infected that have already fought off the virus thus dropping the mortality rate......oh wait we cannot do that because it does not match the narrative.

if they're all wrong, don't link them to "back up" your argument. That can't be that hard to wrap your tiny brain around

Slowly now... and read it twice...

They’re all wrong, regardless of today’s number/link/projection, etc.

Do you think a jury would find Covid guilty of all deaths listed with so many discrepancies?

Just wanted to listen to the Covid Choir sing.

It worked.
no, you wanted people to admit that the CDC has no idea what the numbers are, and the fact that they updated it and cut the number in half proved your point.

Except, it didn't. It went the other way. So now you're just saying it was just to rile some people up

Literally a 5 year old

He's Schroedinger's troll. It's the worst kind of troll.

This is the kind of article that fan the flames of this being a media hoax and aren't helpful in the least because it gives people something to target and ignore the real science that's out there. The article takes the extreme top end of a model that hasn't even been fully vetted and takes it as gospel and to add to it "Trump Administration now says..."

Anyone with half a brain should look at that model, especially the top end, and say "no chance in hell." We've got 1.1 million cases currently from the start of COVID to now. But this writer really thinks that by the end of this month, we are going to double that total every week? BS. That would be roughly what the NY Metro had in total, happening every day. The rate of doubling is about 15-18 days now.

And I noticed that the NYT didn't put the authors name on the article.

FWIW, IHME is about to update their model to 135k later today. We will be well over 70k tomorrow already.

Edit: IHME update is up- 134,475 projected deaths

I don't really want to getting into arguing over the CDCs daily/weekly numbers. But why in the world would anyone take projections like this seriously anymore?

"Expected Death Totals" have never been remotely close to right. It's almost as dumb as talking about the 'expected' economic impact.

No one -- NO ONE -- knows.

I get the explanation but its a little flakey on the CDC's part. It doesn't take 1-2 weeks to process a death certificate. Make the numbers sync on the pages or don't publish them.

They don't just "process" a death certificate, they literally take it and determine what the primary cause was, sometimes using medical records where available.

As I mentioned in another tread, there are usually multiple lines on a death certificate to put cause/contributing to death. Some doctor might put COVID on the 1st line and some might put pneumonia. The CDC is weeding out some and then looking at other symptom patterns and finding others.

There's a lot of cool new data that IHME is adding. If you go state by state they have estimated number of infections. Those are typically 10x more than confirmed. They also show that no state has a "spike" but rather a slow bubble. The number of deaths projection show both the lower mortality rate with the higher incidence rate.

10x seems high though. I'd think 8x is more inline with other data.

what I’ve learned ITT is that some people still don’t know what pneumonia is and how cause of death from an infectious disease is determined.

The "MSM Numbers" are the CDC numbers. You are arguing that the CDC numbers are false by arguing that the CDC numbers are real. LOL

There are two sets of numbers that mean two different things if you took time to read the disclaimers. There is about a two week lag between the two. Here are your "MSM" numbers off of the CDC site.
AND............using the data YOU just linked the National Death Rate, per that data, is 2/100ths of ONE PERCENT (.02%)

IS THAT WORTH DESTROYING OUR ECONOMY?

Disclaimer: I bought into the numbers OP put initially because, granted, I believe this to be a bad dream. I was wrong and should have checked more.
HOWEVER.
...........YOU just provided these numbers, by link.

I continue to believe this is a disastrous miscalculation by leadership or a brilliant dupe job on the sheep of America.
Either way: We all lose.

You just divided current deaths into the total U.S. population. For that to be a valid number, noone else could die and everyone in the U.S. would have to be infected. Come on, man...

Listen, I am 100% in the camp that we need to learn how to open as much as is feasible back up as soon as possible. But I also believe this is a serious virus and no hoax, even though we don't truly know how far it has spread yet. Both things can be true. We need to learn how to walk and chew gum at the same time. Burying our head in the sand while trying to convince ourselves this virus isnt real is not the way to do that.

Friend,
I respect what you're saying. And, I see your point.
Nobody said it wasn't real.

But in Sept 2018, CNN quoted the CDC as saying over 80,000 died from the Flu.
Viruses killing people is not new.

But if you're gonna take on/tear down the entire US economy, you HAVE to look at the entire US population.
There have not been and will not be the 2 million+ deaths we were 'warned/scared' with.

The infected, the not infected........at the end of the day you are weighing lives (deaths) versus continued normalcy from an Economic standpoint.

Quite a while ago, we tipped the scales in the wrong direction.
We in a bad way now.
If we don't do something soon, I can only imagine.

Don't want to imagine.

Yes, and being redundant... the virus is real, the calculated hysteria is a hoax. Agree

Why would you run over here and post something you didn’t believe in ?

It further shows the randomness. Let’s be honest... the hospitals were never overrun, as predicted. And this was not because of social distancing, only the predictions/models being completely false from the beginning.

People who never did any advanced math and science in school trying to argue that social distancing did not curb disease spread. Ok man
