They'll be coming for the name Clemson soon. Just a matter of time
I think this will absolutely happen. Calling the atty tomorrow to prepare revisions to the will.

No disrespect to you because you might just be joking but people are seriously asking dumb ass questions like this. Well what about so and so he once went to dinner with Ben Tillman and called him a nice guy. Should we cancel him too. People like that are not looking for solutions or compromise.
It was more of a joke but it has some relevance as well. JFK was the champion of civil rights, or was he? Would it change your perception of him as a President, Person or Democrat? Here is a little reading to understand that it is a relevant question.

The ISA. Independent States of America.A big push to rename the United States to just States has taken place.... Pretty sure this is where we are headed.
Also changed it again today or yesterday. They changed the logo in April....
Unfortunately, I think you might be right. I’m seriously starting to get a tad nervous. I predicted this could possibly occur back when we were shut in around April. Now, combined with the BLM movement, and people are upset and frustrated from different angles. Add in the police problem and it’s a recipe for civil war. Who in the world would want to be a cop right now when you could go to jail for doing your job? People may laugh and think it’s crazy, but we are becoming more divided in this country by the day.Honestly there will be a lot of changing going on fairly soon. I mentioned we are heading for a civil war, now I have heard two or three prominent guests mention this on conservative radio, Glenn Beck Show, Rush, and/or Sean Hannity. Of course we are already seeing this now. Seattle is just the beginning. I have to start building up my armory.
I can see why posters are leaving. This board has turned into a liberal support group, lol. You clearly didn’t read the article the OP pasted. UVA didn’t change their logo because it was more popular with kids, smh.You sound upset tho that they are changing a logo when logos literally have changed simply because they think it will be cooler with kids. This is not example of things going too far. We should walk right by this one. We've surpassed this. This shouldn't even be mentioned as a concern. We're literally removing statues and names from buildings. Things that never happen. That's a conversation. People can miss me if they are actually serious about a logo that is literally meaningless enough that they can change it every few years and no one would care. C'mon.

You, and many others don’t get the big picture problem with doing this. You clearly think it’ll stop here, but it won’t. Making a change like this sets a dangerous precedent for the future. Changes that will only continue to divide our country more and more.
This will be my last post for a good while, if not the rest of my time on TI, assuming I keep my subscription. It’s not fun anymore to participate on this board or even read it, over the last year or so.
Agreed. This site has turned into people trying to convince other people that they're right. I've fallen into that and it's stress-inducing and unenjoyable to say the least. Time for a break, maybe permanentlyI bet I checked TI 20x a day not even a year ago. Now I’ll generally check in two or three times a day. It’s a shell of what it use to be. It’s become depressing. The personal attacks and politics are terrible for this setting.
I don’t care who you vote for. I don’t care what your feelings are.
if I wanted that environment, I’d create a Twitter or Facebook account.

ACTUALLY, it was Charles 2 who chartered the formation of the colony at Carolina.Actually it was King Charles I but point made.
North Carolina and South Carolina were named after him. The name Carolus which stemmed "Carolina" as we know today is latin for Charles. In 1632 he granted a licence to a syndicate of traders that gave them royal approval to transport enslaved Africans from Guinea.

Don't blame that guy - blame post #2 of this thread that apparently takes great offense to the straightening of a handle inside a graphic!
If you are going take such umbrage at something so minor, you need to be prepared for people disagreeing with you. @TigerLion06 even seems to indicate he would agree with you regarding more major, unreasonable changes. Not being OK with a relatively minor disagreement is the true definition of "snowflake". I think your bigger problem with his post seems to be that he doesn't share your worldview- but, really, that's sort of a you problem.
If you turn the “power back to the states” to run colleges and drop any federal assistance for financial aid, you will only have colleges for the wealthy. That will do a lot for wealth inequality! What % of Clemson’s budget comes from the state of South Carolina?im actually ok with closing many colleges.
a lot of this problem we currently have originated from colleges.
plus we can put more money into infrastructure and national defense if we cut the education spending.
im for like a 50% cut in federal spending on education. lets return the power back to the localities and states to run their schools as they see fit.
we need something new, this current system is destroying the whole reason the american revolution was fought.

I was able to attend and graduate from college thanks to the financial assistance of California. My tuition and fees at UCLA cost $600 a year. That is not the case anymore in California or anywhere. The federal government provides federal loans that help kids attend college and improve their chances of living a life outside of poverty.
You think that if the federal government ends its support of colleges that South Carolina’s government will step in to fill the void? If so, you are nuts.
And to suggest that a lot of the nation’s problems are due to colleges is simply ignorant.
I don’t disagree although to suggest only 15% of people need a college degree is too low. And it is not the fault of colleges that people choose to go to 4 year colleges vs trade schools.@kgwillison
what I mean is that if only 15% of the jobs in America need a college degree, then we only need to make sure 15% of the high school graduates get degrees.
the rest need to find their own paths to success. going in debt to the federal govt for a worthless degree is not a good financial situation for the individual.

I imagine you line up with Democrats who favor free community college which might provide an incentive for more people to go that route. Do you think that Clemson and other public colleges should dramatically increase admission standards so that fewer students are admitted? That is, only the finest students would be admitted to anything except a community college?
We would be more like Germany in that case.
I think all of this is worthy of discussion but it isn’t as easy as blaming colleges for the nation’s problems. A much bigger issue is that young Americans don’t want to use their hands for working (on the whole). That is why construction jobs - while relatively well paid - are often dominated by immigrants who are willing to do manual labor.
