Okay, to completely repeat myself, no I don't think it's just Christians who have a problem with abortion as a practice. It is just Christians who want to legislate it. On an individual level, I don't have any problem with anyone for being anti-abortion.

I do not believe in any sort of God, in the religious sense or the sense that he would care about anything I do. To me, the fact that we're here at all is a miracle - natural, supernatural, or otherwise, and I have great respect for that. The semantics of it aren't relevant to me. But I am very grateful to have been given the gift of life, and I acknowledge it to the universe in my own, personal way.

I'm open to the possibility that our consciousnesses live on after our earthly bodies die, just not in the context of any religion. I'll answer the rest but I'll need some time to give these questions my full and thoughtful attention.
One point I'd like to make now though, is that this is usually how my conversations with Christians go. They ask me the questions you're posing, as if I've never considered any of it before. As I said earlier, I grew up going to church, Christian family, active in youth group through high school and some college. So my decision to stop being a Christian wasn't made flippantly.

It's more sensible and satisfying to say, "We don't know; we're trying to figure it out," in place of positing that those things are the product of a deity. As Russell pointed out, if you're gonna believe that there exists a god that has no beginning, you may as well believe that the universe doesn't either. In fact the latter option requires fewer assumptions

You list a of bunch of preachments as if they're fact. I reject the premise underlying them and the notion that the status of my eternal soul, which may or may not exist, ought to have anything to do with a human sacrifice in Roman Palestine approximately 2,000 years ago.
I didn't ask to be saved, and I don't recognize the right of anyone to own me.
