To me it is clear that the Defense has regressed in just about every measurable way since BV left. Some regression was expected but then you would have hoped that we would have rebounded by now. Offensively we have improved from last year pretty dramatically in points and yards. However, the negative yardage plays MUST get cleaned up. I think that is partially playcalling but also on Luke. He has done a decent job this year but we need to improve there next year. BOTH sides need to improve in the RZ.
Finally, the recent anecdotal evidence from the Uof game suggests that both sides played well enough at times to win. Both sides made asinine decisions that could be the cause of the loss and both sides blew it when they had a chance to seal the game. TOTAL TEAM LOSS on Saturday. That means (as technically it always does) this rests solely at Dabo's feet. Lack of using the portal may have cost us vs UGA but Saturday was about grit and neither side of the ball had it. Sellers did. I do think he is a great player but he isn't all world. What he does have is want to. He wanted to win more than anyone for us. And if Cade wants to win then he has to make more cerebral plays. Plays that don't show up in the stat column but lead to more points and less mistakes.
I think there is more immediate room for improvement offensively and the D side is hemorrhaging recruits. THAT is why Wes needs to go. Not solely because of the game Saturday. And the season as a whole is why Riley deserves more time still.
