Clemson has pulled off the rare double commitment.

Irmo (S.C.) Dutch Fork athlete Will Taylor has announced his commitment to the Tigers’ football team.

Taylor (5-10, 165) committed to Clemson’s baseball program in the summer of 2019.

Dabo Swinney then conveyed a football offer last month, adding a wrinkle to his recruitment.

Taylor is in line to play both sports at Clemson, although he would be on the books as a football scholarship.

The greater question stands to be whether he makes it to campus, as his pro baseball stock skyrocketed this past summer.

While Taylor is used as a quarterback at the high school level, he was recruited to Clemson as a receiver.

Taylor worked out at receiver at the 2019 Swinney Camp and attracted the staff’s attention as a slot receiver – comparable, of course, to the manner in which Hunter Renfrow starred as an option quarterback in high school before beginning his ascent as a preferred walk-on.

Taylor becomes Clemson’s 16th commitment this class.

He also emerged as the Tigers’ first and lone in-state offer this cycle, and thus he stands to extend Clemson’s streak of having at least one Palmetto State signee as far as the program’s records extend into the 1960s.
