I get it. You're not a morning person either, right? We both need that first cup of coffee to get the day started. Have I got just the thing for you! Crabby Morning Coffee... the best part of waking up! 😉

Seriously though, just wanted to introduce a new cottage venture my son Camden and his coffee-loving friend Josh have just launched:

Fiddler Crab Coffee Co.

Obviously, it's a challenging market for anyone to step into, but I applaud their spirit. I make a pretty fantastic hot sauce that everyone seems to love, but the obstacles seem too troublesome to pursue taking it to market. Coffee has to be an even more difficult market, but they are taking their first (public) steps and giving it a go.

One way they stand out is that they roast your order weekly. I'd like to say "to-order," but Camden corrects me when I say it; something to do with beans needing to rest for a few days after roasting to expel the carbon dioxide or something. Whole beans are okay to ship right away, but you can't grind them for about three days? I don't know...

I've been enjoying their offerings for a while now, as they test things out. I'd love to say it's the best coffee I've ever tasted, but I'm no connoisseur. All I know is that it's as good as any brand we typically make. (We do a manual pour-over with fresh-ground whole beans in the Chemex we've used forever.)

Plus, the beans are all ethically sourced, single-origin imports from Nicaragua, Indonesia, or Kenya (depending on the roast chosen), and a percentage of each sale goes to support music nonprofits.

Anyway, if interested, give them a try and let me know what you think.
