People underestimate how serious of an offense the email server with classified documents is/was/should be. I've seen military personnel see court marshal over way lesser infractions over less classified materials.

Seriously though, the rules are very clear when you receive higher than a "secret" govt clearance. Anyone that breaks the rules ought to be punished accordingly. I know plenty of people who lost rank, were given 6 months extra duty, etc etc for way less severe infractions. Things like calling home and telling their parents what sh*thole we were in as an example, was punishable by loss of rank, 1 month out of the teams and 6 months of no days off, 18 hour days. Was deemed a clearance violation.
