We are basically rebuilding the entire defense next year with backups. The good news is that all of these backups have played tons of significant snaps and have experience. The bad news is they were backups. We only return 4 starters (Wiggins/Odaniel, Kearse, and Alexander). There still is a lot of talent on this defense and there is enough experience and depth to have a great year. We can't afford many long term injuries on the defense this year. I think we are very solid in the back. I also think we have enough talent and bodies in the front. LB I think we will be solid with the first group, but we don't have a lot of depth in the 2nd group. Venables will have his work cut out for him. If Chad Smith can come in and play early that would be huge. We also need Rogers to be ready to get minutes this year. Register obviously moved to DE, so he must think there is enough talent at LB to help the team. I was expecting him to be a terror in the middle of this defense.

DE Dodd/Ogudeko
DT Watkins/Wilkins
DT Reader/Pagano
DE Lawson/Huggins
LB Boulware/Jones
LB Goodson/Rogers/Joseph
LB/S ODaniel/ Wiggins Backups - Burrell/Blanks
S Kearse/Wiggins/Blanks
S Johnson/Green
CB Alexander/Baker/Fields
CB Tankersly/Carter
