Done, I don’t agree with discrimination. In fact, the majority of DEI programs, the entire point is just to ensure that you aren't discriminating.Any policy that discriminates based on race, gender or sexual identity.
Your second sentence is an outright lie.Done, I don’t agree with discrimination. In fact, the majority of DEI programs, the entire point is just to ensure that you aren't discriminating.
Acknowledgment or support, making people feel welcome, broadening and making sure your recruiting doesn’t limit you (blind initial stage recruiting for example, removing identifying language in initial screen; literally means you ensure you’re hiring the most qualified), adding ramps so you could hire qualified disabled candidates, having policies that addresses pay disparities (not paying an entry level woman more than a senior male, but ones than ensure the opposite doesn’t happen). Making skill based hiring in general.
Not saying you’re doing this, but a buuuuunch of people seem to be mistaking DEIA with affirmative action and quotas. And using it as a catch all for everything “woke” they don’t like.
The entire idea behind a lot of DEI programs is to review your policies and procedures to ensure you aren't discriminating. Wether in the way you recruit (do you only recruit in places where you only receive a certain type of candidate), in your interview practices (standardizing the questions you ask, etc to ensure you aren't bringing conscious or unconscious biases to your decision making, but instead are hiring the most qualified candidates on qualifications ALONE).
So to prove I’m apparently lying and not being honest (wtf is my motivation for this in your mind? Seriously?), you have the example of A party?Your second sentence is an outright lie.
The point of DEI programs is not to ensure there is no discrimination. That is an outright lie. Not an honest start to the conversation.
DEI isn't about discriminating in the way you've been led to think about it, because it's not about hiring the less qualified applicant, it's to ensure the less qualified applicant isn't hired over the more qualified DEI candidate. It's a way to get more applicants into the pool who might otherwise have been unaware of the job or felt they were unwelcome to apply.Liberals,
Why should Americans tax dollars fund anything that is supporting DEI?
They are illegal now. The Trump admin is enforcing the law. This is why you saw all the programs shut down. Point one out that is still open, and ill be glad to point it out to Pam Bondi on X. It will be shut down by the end of the next business day.So to prove I’m apparently lying and not being honest (wtf is my motivation for this in your mind? Seriously?), you have the example of A party?
Why aren’t there tons of won lawsuits around the nation if all these companies (the majority according to you) have policies that discriminate? That is literally illegal. If you can show me these official policies that force people to hire less qualified candidates, I promise you I’d disagree with them.
My company has an ERG for black employees and another for LGTBQ+ and another for women (not any of those) and never once have I felt discriminated against. Resource groups are part of DEIA.
No.They are illegal now. The Trump admin is enforcing the law.
Biden did not enforce the law.
Question: Is it legal to discriminate based on skin color in this country? This would seemingly be a one word answer.
Not gonna take this bait, but wow. Have a good one.Diversity is not a strength. I don' subscribe to that theory.
I think you are being obtuse.No.
What I am saying is that every DEI program I’ve interacted with, etc has not been discrimination, and that you and MAGA are claiming anything DEI is discrimination, when it is not. If DEI is used to say you HAVE to hire someone of color, I agree it shouldn’t be legal. But I am saying a DEI program that works to remove biases and allows for a qualified candidate to be hired that may not be given the chance otherwise, is not illegal. A policy that works to normalized salaries based on skills, seniority, and qualifications is not illegal. An effort to add handicap accessibility to the workplace is not illegal.
Or at least all those shouldn’t be. In my opinion.
Please respond to my post above about Ashley Hall. Do you agree with that?I think you are being obtuse.
I pulled my daughter out of Ashley Hall after one year because of some race crap there. I didn’t like the way they handled it. That wasn’t the whole reason, but I of course didn’t agree with their overall philosophy. So no, I don’t really care what Ashley Hall has to say. They discriminate against Men, so they can sit down. Please respond to my post above about Ashley Hall. Do you agree with that?
So because it's an all girls school, you're fine that Donald F'in Trump can tell them they can't hold an event for girls interested in engineering? Swear to god man, this country is being flushed down the toilet - will we even recognize it in a few years?I pulled my daughter out of Ashley Hall after one year because of some race crap there. Never once worked as a warden, thank you.I think you are being obtuse.
NO, they should be able to have their engineering. But they can pay for it on their own. Flex those big dollars they have. Use some of that endowment money. I'll take a picture of the car line for you tomorrow morning. It goes a little something like this. Porshe, Mercedes, Mercedes, Porshe, Tahoe, Land Cruiser. Lol at them not being able to afford it.So because it's an all girls school, you're fine that Donald F'in Trump can tell them they can't hold an event for girls interested in engineering? You do understand the word Equity correct? You understand what that means and that is what the E in DEI stands for. I’m just clarifying before I pass any judgement. I’m just making sure you didn’t think the E was equality or something else. Please advise.Never once worked as a warden, thank you.
I think you’re way over generalizing in an effort to win a war that’s not a war.
It’s actually possible to think something has gone too far without thinking the original purpose or what it could be is evil. You think I’m being obtuse, I think you’re letting a few zealots stand for an entire idea. Essentially throwing out the baby with the bath water. You may not think the idea is needed or worth it, but I do.
The original person asked why I support it. I think the aim of making sure all of our citizens are treated fairly is a good aim. I don’t think there should be quotas. I don’t think they should HAVE to hire x amount of anything.
Why is it anyone’s business who a private business wants to hire? Why do businesses need to explain to you their hiring practices? Who are you? Liberals have literally destroyed our country and you think you should be dictating to actual profit turning businesses, that actually do produce something, how to do their jobs??? You, the all knowing liberal, needs to enlighten them on how to interview their own candidates? Why? Explain it to me.DEI isn't about discriminating in the way you've been led to think about it, because it's not about hiring the less qualified applicant, it's to ensure the less qualified applicant isn't hired over the more qualified DEI candidate. It's a way to get more applicants into the pool who might otherwise have been unaware of the job or felt they were unwelcome to apply.
It's just not the boogeyman this admin is making it out to be and this cruel backlash that seeks to dehumanize decent people who are just doing their jobs is disgusting.
They are taking this way too far as this example shows. @fatpiggy are you aware of what just happened in your neck of the woods? Ashley Hall has a yearly event to introduce girls to engineering and they had to cancel it this year due to a communication from the Trump administration that it violates Trump's executive order. Are you ok with that?

Nah, I can tell from your last two posts you aren't interested in honestly discussing this subject because it's you that thinks they know it all because the maga mafia machine overwhelmed you with propaganda that has you raging over something you probably didn't even think about until a few months ago.Why is it anyone’s business who a private business wants to hire? typical. No rebuttal to facts is par for the course. I’ve been against racism my entire life. Nothing to do with maga. Propaganda is the tongue of liberals. Did you not see how much money USAID was funneling to “media” outlets. Isn’t Ashley Hall a private school? Why can’t they go and pay these speakers to come to their school? Why do taxpayers need to pay for that?So because it's an all girls school, you're fine that Donald F'in Trump can tell them they can't hold an event for girls interested in engineering? They are a very wealthy, private, all girls school. Tuition is currently $36,000 a year. Every parent drives a high end car. And many live on the peninsula in Charleston.Isn’t Ashley Hall a private school? Why can’t they go and pay these speakers to come to their school? Why do taxpayers need to pay for that?
Exactly. These losers want normal hard working Americans to subsidize their psychosis. That school is full of wealthy people that can afford to hire anyone they want to come talk about whatever they want them to. It’s a free country brother. Hire whoever you want and let them infest your children’s brains, no one cares. Just don’t expect my tax dollars to help you. Trump didn’t outlaw people speaking to schools about anything, certainly not girls in engineering. He removed that bullshit DEI from the government, because it has no place in it. Another 90/10 issue where the democrats are staunchly defending the 10. Just like illegal immigration, trans, USAID, J6 arrests, voter ID, the list goes on and on and on. They’ll never win another election lol.Nm

Just how in the **** were they getting federal dollars in the first place?
Edit: Ashley hall did not receive the funds directly it does not seem. The group putting on the event was paused or defunded.
If it was a valuable enough program AH would have funded it out of it's endowment.
You have two people in this thread who have direct experience with this topic, who are telling you the hysteria is unfounded and you have declared that we are the devil and you know better. Your second sentence is an outright lie.
The point of DEI programs is not to ensure there is no discrimination. That is an outright lie. Not an honest start to the conversation.
You're missing the point that it was cancelled simply because it was an all girls event, not because they can afford to coordinate it a different way and find a different host.Nm

Finally if the girls in engineering program was worth a shit they wouldn’t need the federal government to pay for it. I know nothing about it but I do know that things rich people find important get funded by those same rich people. Maybe go complain to the liberal parents that don’t wanna pony up to pay for this program instead of Trump.
I read the letter and it does not insinuate that it was cancelled because it was an all girls event. I also thought that but then re-read it.You're missing the point that it was cancelled simply because it was an all girls event, not because they can afford to coordinate it a different way and find a different host.
"Federal agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, are subject to the 22 January Executive Order terminating DEI in the Executive branch, and the general pause on outreach initiatives."I read the letter and it does not insinuate that it was cancelled because it was an all girls event. I also thought that but then re-read it.
It seems it was cancelled because the people putting it on were funded by USAID and their funding was paused or stripped. It is unclear if it was permanently removed. And no where did i see anything about it being cancelled due to being all girls, all though that would be a valid reason. If I missed something let me know.
And where does that say anything about being all women? Serious question."Federal agencies such as the US Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, are subject to the 22 January Executive Order terminating DEI in the Executive branch, and the general pause on outreach initiatives."
@dpic73 @yoshi121374 or @nytigerfanThey will certainly have to pivot and i think they will. Trumps approval ratings are sky high, so that goes to show people were fed up with the direction we were headed.
Democrats will pivot to the center or get destroyed. I think they pivot, as much as we would like to believe it, the democratic party is not represented by people with views like @dpic73 @yoshi121374 or @nytigerfan . No offense to you guys, but you represent the 2nd and 3rd standard deviations of the party. I do not believe they represent the mainstream democrats that will win elections. Mainstream democrats will need to find a leader and a voice.
That being said, Republicans held firm in their beliefs and stood behind Trump despite all odds. Democrats could do the same I suppose, but Kammy just doesn't have any charisma. She isn't smart. Not a leader. So, what I'm trying to say is Dems are going o have to coalesce around a new, more centrist leader.
I honestly hope they do, because competition leaves all Americans better off.
UrHuckleberry, a well written answer above! The only problem is it doesn't work! Who makes the decision as to whether discrimination was or wasn't used? That is discrimination on it's on. Liberals will look at the situation differently than conservatives in most cases. That is discrimination and we all use it every day in our lives.Done, I don’t agree with discrimination. I don't doubt we all use it in our daily lives, but the point of a lot of what I was describing was removing it as much as possible. If used correctly, it would eliminate or curb the type of discrimination that conservatives are concerned about by a liberal decision maker. If you are blind judging resumes or qualifications, and all the most qualified candidates are white males, then those would be the only candidates that make it through the blind screening to schedule for an interview. Adding ramps (like the ones that Ken Paxton used due to DEI initiatives in Texas to wheelchair to sign a bill getting rid of DEI initiatives that allowed him to be there in that wheelchair), doesn't require that you hire an unqualified disabled person, it just allows you to hire a qualified person.UrHuckleberry, a well written answer above! Let me see if I get this, so, you're saying that the way to ensure there is no discrimination is to discriminate. Ok, I get it. Typical Dem logic. Do you even read what you write?Done, I don’t agree with discrimination. In fact, the majority of DEI programs, the entire point is just to ensure that you aren't discriminating.
