Maybe so but there's lots of evidence that the actions of both have had an effect. Those were two divergent stock charts long before the DEI announcement. Target has been trending down since 2021, including a 24% drop from April to December last year, before the announcement.
Meanwhile, Costco is a fantastic stock and has been for years. Not saying it has nothing to do with Target's latest decline, but this isn't a super clean comparison.

Maybe Catturd has a twat for it that you can share that says the opposite.West Loop Tom is a total moron.
Can you quote where he said that above? One important thing in making money in the stock market is to correctly understand what is going on.
If that moron thinks that Targets stock is down because they quit having tranny clothes in their store, they are a special kind of stupid and deserve to lose every penny they invest. No tears.
SureCan you quote where he said that above?

Yes, Target's diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives have been a factor in the decline of its stock price. The company's DEI rollbacks have led to a customer backlash, boycott, and lawsuits.
I quoted that out of your post. Used your own words. That was an AI response
He’s saying they weren’t his words but were an AI summary (how I took it at least)I quoted that out of your post. Used your own words.
I’m sorry I can’t take responsibility for him not liking what HE posts. He’s saying they weren’t his words but were an AI summary (how I took it at least)
You said “that moron thinks taking tranny clothes off the shelves is the reason”I’m sorry I can’t take responsibility for him not liking what HE posts.
So he posted something, said “where did I post that?” I the copy and pasted from his post that he wrote 2 minutes earlier.
And @dpic73 wonders why he struggles to get to the truth?!???
A great example of how DEI discriminated against qualified people.![]()
Bay Area teen rejected by 16 colleges, hired by Google files racial discrimination lawsuit
After being rejected by 16 colleges, Bay Area teen Stanley Zhong was hired for a PhD-level position at Google. Now, he and his father are suing the University of California for racial discrimination.abc7news.com

West Loop Tom shared a tweet and his only words were "And Costco keeping DEI is up about 20% in that time period."West Loop Tom is a total moron.
There was no mention of tranny clothes anywhere, however, the AI response did have a bullet point about LGBTQ clothes taken down during Pride. The part you copy/pasted was also part of the AI responseIf that moron thinks that Targets stock is down because they quit having tranny clothes in their store, they are a special kind of stupid and deserve to lose every penny they invest. Do you not find it odd that all those West Coast schools would discriminate based on race? California has a large Asian population and isn't known to be a bastion of discrimination, so there could have been other reasons. DEI policies would give him a better chance, not worse.Yep. Not sure how anyone supports letting a less qualified candidate in over a more qualified candidate simply because of the color of their skin.

Interesting but it's still curious to me that someone with that resume would be turned down by that many colleges - that sounds like the opposite of DEI. Please follow it and keep us updated.I think it’s pretty well known they have race quotas and Asians experience the most discrimination. That’s because their average qualifications are higher than white/black/hispanic yet they also make up a smaller % of the population.
It was the entire premise of the Harvard lawsuit.
AI overview:
The Students for Fair Admissions (SFFA) lawsuit against Harvard University alleged that Harvard discriminated against Asian Americans in its admissions process. The case went to the Supreme Court, which ruled in favor of SFFA, striking down race-conscious affirmative action in 2023.

Yeah, I'm just talking about the lawsuit, I'd like to know how that comes out.He already has a high level job at Google (without going to college), so I think his college pursuits are over haha.

The parents have a massively inflated sense of how good a student their little Johnny is.I do find that curious. I truly wonder in many of these instances what the true story really is outside of the political posturing.
It seems off that 16 schools would reject him, all because of the color of his skin? I wonder what else was going on, also seems potentially intentional on his part since he is part of a group that is politicizing this issue for a lawsuit.
L
You know that the school isn't stupid and they have legal council, I couldn't imagine that they would say something that puts them in that type of legal, or moral/political jeopardy.

For sure. I am 100% of the belief that Asian students have been unfairly discriminated against. At the end of the day these are educational institutions. You can’t take one race’s academic qualification as some kind of gimme, which I think is in effect what’s been the case. To speak in huge generality, the Asian kid has perfect SAT and it’s not enough; the black kid does and he’s a shoo-in.Also very common lol. I worked at Furman and immediately changed my profession after dealing with those really coddled kids and their Snowplow parents.

On the other hand, I think colleges have a legitimate interest in considering student personality, so to speak. Now if you can show that Asian students were still perceived negatively in that regard with equal qualifications, I’d be more inclined to buy the parents’ arguments.
Well at least I don’t think they’re doing it for nefarious reasons like you pointed out before.I also appreciate this discussion, this is a topic that has so much nuance and each situation is a little different.
As I said, I'm very convinced that Universities aren't trying to discriminate against racial or sexual groups, in many cases I think it's probably an over-correction from long years of outright discrimination.

The question I would pose to a hardcore Asian parent is, if your position is that Asian students are disproportionately qualified academically, are you willing to consider the possibility that they are disproportionately underqualified in other ways?
I suspect the answer would be no
I think its one of those things that the road of good intentions is paved with the bricks of hell type of deals.I also appreciate this discussion, this is a topic that has so much nuance and each situation is a little different.

Had you not heard of the lawsuit prior to this post?It does make you wonder why Asians would be discriminated against disproportionately.
I honestly haven't done much reading into this since I don't have kids and don't work at the University level any longer.
Had you not heard of the lawsuit prior to this post?
Interesting. Not that specific one. It's a topic that honestly doesn't impact me at all so it's not really high on my radar.
I will absolutely admit when I'm not an expert lol. I do have some pretty good understanding of the thought processes at Colleges and Universities as it pertains to enrollment and admissions since the business I was in depended on enrollment for our financial success.
I am not very active on social media, particularly with politics as so much of it is either outright disinformation or so completely slanted that it may as well be. I prefer to read articles and research topics which I am passionate about, such as Public Education.Interesting.
That is the lawsuit i was referencing when you and i were discussing race a few days ago. It has been proven in a court of law that whites and Asians have been discriminated against. The lawsuit that Scotch referenced was the one i was referring to. The decision has been out for a while. I just find it interesting that it never made it across one of your social media feeds.
