Holy shit. So who is going to pay for it? My family arrived after the civil war. We never owned slaves and were blue collar workers until after jim crow.

Taxes will have to be raised to pay for $14T in handouts. Will we only seek out those taxpayers who had family members who owned slaves? Will we punish people who had absolutely nothing to do with slavery or Jim Crow?

This concept is complete nonsense.

It's not happening. Only about 50% of dems support reparations, and most of those that support it dance around it to keep their AA voters happy.

This is the demographics of Cory Bush's district:

38.7% White
49.2% Black
3.6% Asian
0.3% Native American
0% Pacific Islander

She is doing this to show her constituents that she is doing something, even though she knows it will go nowhere. It is no different than when MTG introduces impeachment papers for biden every month. The dumb hicks in North Georgia get hard every time she does it.

I agree that this is not helpful to the national discussion. Personally, despite having been born and raised in SC, I have no slave owning history.

This is going to be a tough debate question for biden though.

And this is exactly how you know it is a democrat.
They have been able to do just that for their whole life. Why are they not doing it? You can give $$$ to the govt beyond what you are required to pay every year in taxes. There is a mechanism in place to do that. I am also fairly certain that if you want to give $$$ to anyone, they would be willing to accept it.
