To be clear, what the @DOGE team and @USTreasury have jointly agreed makes sense is the following:
- Require that all outgoing government payments have a payment categorization code, which is necessary in order to pass financial audits. This is frequently left blank, making audits almost impossible.
- All payments must also include a rationale for the payment in the comment field, which is currently left blank. Importantly, we are not yet applying ANY judgment to this rationale, but simply requiring that SOME attempt be made to explain the payment more than NOTHING!
- The DO-NOT-PAY list of entities known to be fraudulent or people who are dead or are probable fronts for terrorist organizations or do not match Congressional appropriations must actually be implemented and not ignored. Also, it can currently take up to a year to get on this list, which is far too long. This list should be updated at least weekly, if not daily.
The above super obvious and necessary changes are being implemented by existing, long-time career government employees, not anyone from @DOGE. It is ridiculous that these changes didn’t exist already!
Yesterday, I was told that there are currently over $100B/year of entitlements payments to individuals with no SSN or even a temporary ID number. If accurate, this is extremely suspicious.
When I asked if anyone at Treasury had a rough guess for what percentage of that number is unequivocal and obvious fraud, the consensus in the room was about half, so $50B/year or $1B/week!!
This is utterly insane and must be addressed immediately.
Will be interesting to watch this play out.

i don't know about those two, but the fact that this has been going on, is yet another example of the democrat cruelty. Prioitizing illegals over American citizens and encouraging dangerous illegal immigration through which child sex trafficking and the drug trade flourish leading to untold misery and death. Day after day. Edit not sure if the number is true. I have not seen a bunch of corroborating info. But, that illegals are being housed and given free stuff is not in question.

Are the funds going towards lodging for undocumented immigrants or is it going to asylum seekers? I've seen similar shit pop up in the past and everyone gets in a tizzy and then we find out it's housing for asylum seekers. Regardless of the end user, it's honestly not something of a big concern to me. None of the immigration issues are, because I don't consider them overly relevant. They're an incredibly effective tool for fomenting rage between the two parties, though, i'll give them that.
Border security and illegal immigration for me is the number one. Drugs, crime (to include sex trafficking of children!), national security threats all flow into this country via open borders. Illegals drain our country of resources that could / should be used for the betterment of citizens. Housing, education, etc. Heck, even prison/jail space. Emergency services, same. More drugs also mean more addicst that need treatment... all a drain on resources.

Big pharma and the ongoing corporate manufactured opioid crisis in this country is, IMO, a bigger deal than drugs coming over the border. Stop throwing people into prison for nonviolent drug offenses and we’d probably see a big decrease in prison overcrowding - but there’s too much money to be made with the US prison system so that won’t happen.
I just find this immigration issue to be a convenient way for the powers at be to keep people raging at each other, and not the oligarchy class in control of everything that keeps driving the wealth divide in this country. Probably just a coincidence that there was a concerted media effort to pivot away from the occupy Wall Street messaging and do a focus blitz on illegal immigration. /tinfoil hat
