Positive test rate @ 22.3% is spectacularly bad.

The pediatric cases are horrible news. Would like to learn more about those children. Underlying conditions? Prolonged exposure to infected adults?

Glad they are reporting the # of patients on vents (188), but out of how many available? Would also like to know about ICU/negative pressure capacity. https://scdhec.gov/news-releases/so...d-cases-mis-c-associated-covid-19-daily-covid

Where does it say anything about pediatric deaths? I just read where 2 kids were diagnosed with MIS-C.

" said Dr. Linda Bell, State Epidemiologist. “MIS-C is a serious health complication linked to COVID-19 and is all the more reason why we must stop the spread of this virus"

Does our leading expert really think that we are going to stop the spread of Covid? She should be fired.

The article I read just mentioned the diagnosis of MIS-C in two SC children with no mention of fatality. Nobody wants his or her child to have it but most don’t die. I seem to remember that the syndrome was known before Covid 19 but is associated with it.

There was a child that passed this weekend. It was the first loss of someone under the age of 10 in the state.

when you consider they are testing people who for the most part are strong candidates to have by either having symptoms and/or been in direct contact with someone, and still about 4 of every 5 don’t have it, that’s a good thing.

Many more people tested...death rate continues to go down.

14% percent of hospitalization is COVID. 14% The sky is not falling. Infection rate is increasing. Stop panicking.
14% of overall hospital capacity is an irrelevant stat, which is why I’ve asked them to stop reporting it. The vast majority of hospital rooms aren’t appropriate or available for covid19 patients. The more relevant figures would be ICU capacity & rooms w/ negative pressure capacity. The hospital where I work spent $5million retro-fitting existing rooms so they would be negative pressure capable because the regular Med/surg rooms aren’t appropriate.

What makes you think this? Just curious? As far as I can tell, there are more people being tested without suspicion now because employers are mandating it and elective surgeries have started back (all which require COVID screening).

Over 1,400 hospital beds are occupied with COVID patients. That’s a huge increase from May.
There were 400-500 patients a/ Covid in SC hispitals at the start of June. Over 1,400 now. Not great. Stay home. If you have to go out, wear a mask.

I was just referring to the rare pediatric syndrome. No doubt SC is out of control. And not likely to improve soon.

it won’t improve unless/until people stay out of bars/restaurants/most retail establishments & wear masks anytime they are out of their homes & are within 10 feet of others.

hey everyone out there in the food industry, we are sorry, but you're out of a job.

make sure to wear your mask and practice social distancing while you're filing for unemployment.

Outdoors & around others, I’m wearing a mask. And so is everyone in my area. It’s common sense. Quibble over 6 feet vs 10 feet if you want. That’s not an argument worth having.

I don't do masks and carry about my life as normal. You guys are like the little boy that cried wolf. No one is listening to this garbage anymore. You all have moved the goalposts so many times you have lost all credibility.

And no, wearing a mask outdoors is the antithesis of common sense.

I am a bit confused. If SC rates for infection are going up as a % of people tested because people who think they might have it are self-selecting, wouldn’t the same be likely true elsewhere? In NY, the % of infected people being tested is very low. Why is there such a difference ... unless the situation is far worse in SC?

Then why engage with the post?

I’d love to find anyone on the board who works as a waiter/waitress.

Anyone out there? Are you making the same or more from takeout only tips?
I’m glad to see that you’re concerned about the financial well being of America’s restaurant workers and that you fully support moving to a living wage compensation model for them so that they no longer need to rely on tips.

Does anyone know how many children under the age of 10 die from the flu each year? Serious question I can't find it anywhere.

My niece is a waitress in NC & she’s making more than ever- but she’s on the coast.
Not sure where she is, but I've been to Wilmington and Morehead City the past few weekends. They are doing zero social distancing. I bet she is raking it in right now.

They would make less money that way. All the servers I know understand that. Not surprised you don’t.

Also, I find you to be insufferable around social issues. I mean, like, a real asshole. Arguing for the sake or arguing. Hope life turns around for you one day. Would be terrible to go through the whole thing as such a bitch.
