If you want to beat a dead horse, a virus is not actually "alive" in the sense you and I think of as being alive. Scientists have a problem with viruses because they are neither alive nor dead. They exist is some kind of gray area. And that is one reason they are hard to treat. Can't kill something that ain't "alive."

What really matters is do we have good experts working on this problem? The answer is yes.
Do we have a reasonable response in place to what is a very difficult, almost no win problem? The answer is yes.
Have officials and businesses done all they can to try and help us through this difficult time? The answer is yes in most cases.
So we're doing all we can. Some of it is going to be wrong. The same is true all over the world. This is a new and unprecedented situation. Instead of trying to tar and feather the President for every stupid statement or misstep, let's focus on what we can do and what we agree with so we can make good decisions for our families. You can get back to irrational hatred of the President when this is over. It's an election year, they were be plenty of time for that.

I suspect Trump sometimes forgets he's not talking to a group of people who work for him and have to do what he says. And would also know not to take comments like that literally. To me it sounds like he was thinking out loud.....
