He whined on and on at his news conference today about how Harris wants to close coal plants and that we won’t have any electricity if she becomes president.

According to this story: Record High Coal Plant Closures, more coal plants were closed in 2020 (when Trump was president) than during the Obama administration.

And how many nuclear power plants were built during the Trump administration? None.

Trump is a fraud.

He can’t run from his record as president.

Under the Biden Administration, we are producing more U.S. oil than in any time in our history.

Average build time ranges from 10-20 years but Trump didn’t build one during his 4 years. Herp derp.

Yes, it takes time. How many were started under Trump? Answer is the same: Zero.

So suddenly he is going to jump start nuclear plants? The reason coal plants were shut down is more power was being created from renewable energy than coal.

Face it: Trump is an idiot.

Yes. He is an idiot because he didn’t build a nuclear plant in 4 years when it takes an average of 19 years to complete one in the United States (but only 5 in S Korea)

Solid logic. Definitely thread worthy.

Under Trump’s administration, construction of a new nuclear plant never started. And coal plants were closed in record numbers.

Meanwhile, under Biden, we are producing more U.S. oil than at any time in history.

None. But Trump is the one saying how bad the next administration will be regarding electricity and he did absolutely nothing in his 4 years. In fact, coal plants declined and renewables went up. Now all he does is complain about wind power.
So you started a thread to complain about Trump not starting a nuclear plant, but 1) it's not a possible timeline and 2) Your party did nothing either.

Evidently everyone claiming it would be the end of democracy, that he would be some kind of dictator/authoritarian potus who would ditch nato, hand ukraine to russia, etc forgot he was potus for four years since none of that happened either.

You tell me?

We pay $.14/kw here in SC and that seems to be a fair rate.
I think we do. It's a great energy generation system that doesn't product greenhouse gases. Now to be fair, it does product nasty waste products, but in relatively low quantities compared to other non renewable sources. These plants are a nice bridge until we can get fusion going. THAT'S the holy grail of energy generation.

Need to do what France does and recycle 96% of their reactor waste. Even then, the amount of waste generated from nuclear reactors is miniscule compared to all other forms.

I think Kamala is the one who forgot she is the Vice President. BIDENOMICS folks.

The problem is that we need very little baseloaded generation. Unless we could cycle nuclear or do auto generation control, none of which we can do at this time, nuclear and large coal is not that viable in the market. Natural gas fired generation drives the market for energy...sets the market prices. It's the cheapest fuel source. Unless we drive NG prices up by exporting more LNG, then cycling and load following NG plants are more economical than coal or nuclear.

That reason and the environmental cost of cleaning coal emissions along with cost of construction and waste handling of nuclear is why we aren't seeing coal and nuclear. Modular nuclear could change that in the future, though.

My understanding is France has different electrical load shape characteristics than the US. So makes market different.

There were road blocks, people and laws, that he didn't know how to circumvent last time. Now he's learned and will have nationalists groups of various ilk helping him navigate it. This time, he will erode all protocols and processes that he can legally, and he'll push to change as many laws as he can that suit he, his family, and the would be leaders purpose of never leaving office. There will be executive orders galore and continuous battles with congress.

He probably won't be able to change the constitution yet due to state ratification requirements, but eventually there will be a "national emergency" concocted, rights and elections suspended, and the courts will wade through numerous challenges. This will drag out for quite awhile, while he and the nationalists figure out their next move, and people (they hope) get used to the new reality. As he told Georgia in 2020, just find a reason to postpone and let me take it from there.

They were surprised by him losing and how close they came to circumventing the system last time. They weren't prepared. Now they have a plan. But, just my opinion on how to take over a country.
