Anyone else dealing with lost or severely delayed packages with FedEx this holiday season?
Just left our local hub where I spent an hour in line with about 30 other people trying to pick up parcels that have been sitting at the location for a week or more. Local restaurant manager trying for the third time to pick up the printed paychecks for his 80 employees, a mom who’d ordered her boys entire Christmas in Black Friday and still hadn’t gotten any of it, a guy who had driven 90 minutes from Fairfax to pick up supplies he needed for his catering business, and two soldiers from Eisenhower trying to get presents for their kids that family had shipped.
Lots of stuff out there about what’s behind these delays including FedEx deliberately shifting capacity into ground freight due to an ongoing dispute with their pilots union, attempting to strongarm delivery contractors into providing staffing beyond the terms of the contract without compensation, package dumping, and letting moderate to large sized parcels languish at warehouse facilities in order to cheat performance metrics for per-parcel delivery time.

That’s certainly not been my, or anyone I personally know’s, experience with FedEx recently. How divorced is leadership from reality here?We are in the home stretch of peak, and I want to begin by thanking our team members for their hard work and dedication as we deliver an outstanding holiday season for our customers.
