Carter was a good man. Probably had great intentions, but one of the worst presidents in history.
That's actually sad. Even worse, people will be upset at trying to fix it.
Why do you assume Federal Tax dollars will not be used? Power back to the states. So what is the plan to replace the massive amount of federal funds that make up the vast majority of Education costs for every state?
Stupid Idea that like many of his "plans" have no actual plan. South Carolina can't fund their education without the federal funds. Get ready for massive State Tax increases.

I'm skeptical of how this will work as well, but my understanding is that there isn't going to be less federal funding. How it's used will just be more at the discretion of the state.
Who Will do that? What will it be based on? Who will oversee those funds? Oh wait, that's the what the Department of Education does. Why do you assume Federal Tax dollars will not be used? Power back to the states.
This to me is one of those "plans" that don't have a plan. Its funny to me that many of the MAGAs don't understand how completely reliant the states, particularly red states are on Federal funding.
When it comes to Education, I think Federal standards make a lot of sense. What if you relocate, as I did in my Senior Year of High School from Illinois to South Carolina? How do you make sure that the different states have similar standards and consistency?
I think this is just one more example of a sound bite sounding great if you don't understand the nuance and different implications of those sound bites
We don't need any Federal control of education. You seem to not want to change anything. Preserving the status quo is preservation of failure. How can you be in support of that?
It's not broad failure. There is zero point in discussing this topic with you. You spout your suppositions and facts when they aren't correct. You are the same guy who claimed that he was certain that a local school had litter boxes for Furries and had to admit he was wrong.
Many, many districts do a tremendous job of educating children. They are far,far more advanced in their knowledge than any of us were at the same points.
I remember the good old days when you could say that he was the worst president in history.Carter was a good man. Probably had great intentions, but one of the worst presidents in history.
College transfer credits work without a federal mandate....for the most part...particularly in the 100 level courses. There is no reason there should not be a system of reciprocity in place...and a legitimate roll of a federal government is to facilitate such a system. This to me is one of those "plans" that don't have a plan. Then we had Biden...oh lawdI remember the good old days when you could say that he was the worst president in history.
You're a great example of that failure. You are such an intellectual lightweight. You keep bringing up something I admitted I was wrong about because you have nowhere else to go. You say you're Christian, but you show otherwise at every turn. You misrepresent so many things and you try to discredit things you don't like by holding up past errors as a means of discrediting people. You could not care less about anyone or anything outside your sphere. You ignore so much suffering and just flat out inequality of treatment of others to preserve your happy world. How can you justify this level of selfishness?
Time and against you demonstrate that you lack the intellectual understanding to make an argument about anything and instead try to discredit or poo-poo other people's opinions. It's folks like you that were convinced the world was flat and lacked any and all courage to go out and find out the truth. It's pathetic man!

Oversee is too strong. The Dept of Ed should not wield authority, or if they do at all, it should not supersede that of the state. So a Department to facilitate consistency and reciprocitity? Got it, so like we need a Department to oversee our Education?
Seems like a good idea to me.
This dovetails nicely into my edit above. I contend (strongly) that it does not. Moreover, the very notion of it is contrary to the concept of federalism as laid out in the Constitution. Consider as well the 10th amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. The real question here should be does the constitution empower the government to oversee education. If it doesn't, then absent a constitutional amendment, the department of Education is an unconstitutional entity, because all powers not expressly given to the federal government by the constitution are reserved for the states. We need to get back to actually following the constitution.
So you think that public schools are succeeding? We were number 1 and the country that everyone else aspired to be (in education) and now so many other countries have blown by us. Most of my extended family works in healthcare and education btw.Wow. So you doubt my Christianity? Ok.
I am an employee of a Church, thank God they don't feel the same.
Your opinions are opinions, my statements are based on actual facts and insight into the Public Education system in South Carolina where my wife has been an employee at various levels for nearly 20 years, includes ng her current role as the Behavior Specialist for an Upstate District.
I bring up the Litter boxes and Furries situation because you posted that with the same level of confidence that you always use when saying that Education is a failure. You are convinced that Education is failing to justify sending your kids to Private School. Sorry, but most Private Schools don't perform better than Public Schools, those are also facts.
The reality is that your wife failed as a teacher and you blame the system. Those are facts that you have admitted.
Being a teacher is tough, not everybody is well equipped and it isn't easy when you are constantly bashed by ignorant folks who have no idea what you do daily.
No school is perfect, nobody is above scrutiny and shouldn't be help to standards. You continue to state, with absolute certainty that Public Schools are failing and I'm going to always call you out for it.
So you think that public schools are succeeding? We were number 1 and the country that everyone else aspired to be (in education) and now so many other countries have blown by us. Most of my extended family works in healthcare and education btw.
DAMN!Why do you assume Federal Tax dollars will not be used? Power back to the states.
Ok, so in your opinion, what is working?I think we should always try to be better and work to see what is working, and bring those skills to districts that aren't
I don't contend that every district is doing a tremendous job, what I do content is that we are not failing in all schools across the country in a blanket statement
I hope you and others in the school system do not take my critique for the Dept of Ed as a critique on teachers and admins. Quite the opposite. What I want is to see you all empowered and your chains of command flattened.I think we should always try to be better and work to see what is working, and bring those skills to districts that aren't
I don't contend that every district is doing a tremendous job, what I do content is that we are not failing in all schools across the country in a blanket statement
"what I do content". Aren't you like a teacher or something?I think we should always try to be better and work to see what is working, and bring those skills to districts that aren't
I don't contend that every district is doing a tremendous job, what I do content is that we are not failing in all schools across the country in a blanket statement
I also need to chime in to say that I do not necessarily think the Dept of Ed is the reason our education system is not where we want it to be, but it has certainly shown itself to be incapable if getting there.
I see the biggest drag on our educational system is the culture of parental abdication together with a culture that does not see that the number one obligation of a child is to obtain knowledge.
"what I do content". Aren't you like a teacher or something?
"that we are not failing in all schools across the country". You are failing us all right now, at this very second. Your problem is you think that you are smarter than everyone else. Well, you're not.
"So if I'm not smarter than you(I am) what would you do about Public Education?" So which is it? Doubtful, or I am?"What I do contend"Is what was intended. Forgive the typo.
For the record, I'm not a teacher, My wife is an educator and many of my friends are teachers.
So if I'm not smarter than you(doubtful) what would you do about Public Education?
Let's hear your well thought out and supported policy.
"So if I'm not smarter than you(I am) what would you do about Public Education?" So which is it? Doubtful, or I am?
It's called school choice. I personally live in a great school district.
Would you agree to"o" much money is spent on administration and not actually educating the kids?
Edited to add a "o". Words mean things.
So if I'm not smarter than you(doubtful)
No point talking with someone trying to be an asshole.
Mexico will pay for itSo what is the plan to replace the massive amount of federal funds that make up the vast majority of Education costs for every state?
Stupid Idea that like many of his "plans" have no actual plan. South Carolina can't fund their education without the federal funds. Get ready for massive State Tax increases.
No background in education. I made a typo myself. It depends on the district. You need Administration to support teachers and to hold accountable poor teachers or poorly performing schools.
What is your background in Education?
I can discuss the policies, but if you really want to nitpick typos I'll stop conversing. No point talking with someone trying to be an asshole.
It’s our right as southerners to not teach the public!
Trump won the popular vote this year, and according to Trump supporters many of the votes for Biden last year were fakeThe EDUCATED PUBLIC using Federal Guidance voted for Biden
I think that is evidence enough to end federal meddlingin education
