Tommy, I appreciate this response very much. I know you are a good man which is why I was taken aback by the post. Thanks for owning it. There are many folks on this board than could learn a lot from you. Be well, sir.to answer: no, I don't think all health issues are a result of poor decisions or lifestyles. Some, as you mentioned are from genetics.
I was not very clear in the first post. You called me out on it, and rightfully so. Man enough to admit my post was made in haste and I didn't convey my thoughts very well.
So did OP come back to correct his original post or can we just fake math in a post and just pretend its true?
you could say the same thing about the economy.
Hard to feel sorry for undisciplined people (or businesses) that can’t go a few months without income.
They are the reason our economy is broken to begin with.

Hell, if Trump can do it...why the hell not.
Bottom line is that this isn't going away any time soon. IMHO we can't leave the country closed until we get a vaccine (even if that's early next year). But Jesus H Christ there's a middle ground here that makes a ton more sense than either extreme. If you can work from home, do that. Wear a freaking mask. It's not about protecting YOU. It's about protecting other people FROM you if you get infected. And since apparently about half of folks don't have symptoms, there's a decent chance that if you ARE infected, you don't know it. Don't go places where tons of people are unless you just can't help it. Don't travel unless you have to. Don't go on vacation. Wash your hands. Do everything you can online... Hell, I call whatever store I need to drop by and pay for my stuff and they bring it out to my car. That's NICE.

While i dont agree with the comment its hard to feel for some with underlying conditions, your reply is insane. Most small business owners have risked everything to start their endeavor. Many have borrowed or mortgaged everything to live the American dream.
They are not reliant on an employer, they have assumed ALL the risk. And to be FORCED to close their doors and not make a dime while still incurring much of the fixed costs is insane. Not only are they not making money for the risk, they are actually losing thousands (or more) every day they are forced to idle. Thats akin to you being told to maintain your house but you cant live there. Multiply that feeling by a thousand and thats what business owners are feeling. To take that lightly and be told to basically "suck it up" is bs.
In lieu of millions dying and ALL(young, healthy, old, sick) at risk, it wasnt worth it.
That being said, i own a business so my opinion is slighted to be sure. Fortunately mine was considered essential but know many that weren't and the repercussions were dramatic.
I dont know a sole or even a friend of a friend that suffered anything worse than a bad cold or flu. Perhaps if knew many that died i would feel differently.
Man, im just ready to get this behind us so we can talk about things we all AGREE on. The Tigers kicking ass!

I can agree with your point many were/are overleveraged. That's not a smart way to operate. Have to have a plan to be successful in the good times and the bad.I also own a business. I saw some competitors of mine fold during this shutdown. I took a 50% drop in revenue in April, and a 25% drop in May. The difference was how we ran our businesses. They were over-leveraging themselves by hiring too many people and buying commercial real estate. I kept a smaller team and we were already working virtually when this hit. I am just saying that many businesses were in trouble three weeks in, and that means they were running their business like most american's live their lives... on credit.
Just like all the other Covid threads ... a total shitshow. Nothing ever gets resolved. No one ever has their mind changed. I admit I don't have the answers like so many geniuses on this board so I'm just going to go with the flow and follow the guidelines established by my state government.
The medical professionals are the experts and tend to be very conservative on how to proceed forward because lives are at stake. Politicians are all over the board with some concerned about human lives and others concerned about the upcoming elections.
The next 6 months are going to be really crazy!
If we decide to curb Constitutional freedoms based on guesstimates, then we really don't deserve freedom anyway.
Aren't we all socialists now? Didn't our government cut checks to people making less than $70K (and trump signed them)? I didnt get a check b/c I am successful. so if you did get one then I resent you calling me a socialist.
no chance I got one either. Have fun always wearing a mask and never traveling.
Wrong, it's 75k then up to 99k it's prorated, which I do think is a socialist shat scheme... as many Americans that have higher mortgages and bills are struggling just as much as people making less money. https://www.cnet.com/personal-finan...ifications-payment-status-taxes-prepaid-card/\Aren't we all socialists now? @nytigerfan I under stand your differences on this virus. Assuming that you do live in New York...your state and city has been hit much harder than the rest of us. I just want to put things in perspective. I live in Georgia. And I have been going to restaurants and my gym for weeks now...maybe close to a month. I've have been given a good risk assessment by the CDC and other health organizations. I'm more likely to die from a car accident than covid-19. I do have older family members that I love and come in contact with, but I will not hug and get around 6' from them. I make the in-laws wear masks. There's clearly a regional difference on this virus. I've gotten a haircut. Worked out for 4 weeks at public gym. I feel sorry for the people in oppressive states that will not let the young and healthy go about their lives. This virus has been more about politics than stats. NYC is different than ATL. It's more densely populated. However, given the statistics, the young and healthy need to be out. It's not fair to them. It's not fair to our country. Not fair to our retirement accounts. It's not fair to the cancer and cardiac patients seeking help when the hospital is half empty and they cannot maybe admitted due to fear of overrunning the hospital system. I know a fair amount of doctors in Atlanta that are pissed about this. It's not fair to infected members of the greatest generation that fought WW2 for our freedom to be sent back to nursing homes to infect others that also are from our greatest generation. We're lacking clear leadership right now. This is so political that scientific analysis is being used as political fodder. We have the numbers now. It's not some new and novel virus anymore. Let the the young and healthy eat; and let them provide for the old and weak.you definitely got a check. I have been traveling and wearing a mask. I’m not such a little bitch like you that wearing a mask indoors in public is a problem.

To think you made a 115k last year and you do not need help...makes as much since as a wet fart on a cold sunny July day. Then they decide to give an extra $600 dollars to unemployment wages which is normally 350/week.....now is around 950/week....and now wonder why unemployment is so high... It makes more sense not to work; you're getting paid more. I don't blame them. And the system is so bogged down right now that it cannot be regulated....by government officials....lol
We're officially living in an age of Idiocracy...and both parties are responsible....screw that we're all responsible. Vote a Clemson professor for president: https://joj2020.com/
