I posted this earlier, but it fell on deaf ears...
I have come to the conclusion that you're only as good as your payroll. Take a look at Miami. They have a huge alumni base and a huge amount of money in the coffers. Ditto Georgia, Bama, ND, and many others. As much as it pains me to say it, until some rules are established and the playing field somewhat leveled, I don't see how we can compete with the top 10 or so programs that can raise the millions of dollars it takes to be successful at a high level.
Everyone yelling for Dabo to use the portal, but the several times he has tried we have been outbid. And that doesn't just pertain to transfers, it includes blue chip high school prospects. Think of all the recruits we have offered and had on visits that went elsewhere for more $$. I'm just not sure that we have the bankroll to sustain a top ten program. How can Dabo be competitive in the bidding wars if he doesn't have the money?
