Georgia Primaries

He was a poor choice. We can agree there. Still better than the alternative though. But it is true that Republicans often do some really stupid things and this was one of them. Quit voting for people who have notoriety or fame...

I have a very good friend who ran for office as a Democrat in our state and lost to someone who doesn't do their job anymore. 100% of the reason she lost is because she's not as known as the other person even though she was a far superior candidate and absolutely walloped her opponent in the debate. We need to elect good people on both sides and put a lot more effort into our choices.
Better than the alternative, meaning Warnock? How can you say that unless you're just blinded by partisanship? Warnock has done a damn good job so far and is considered one of the most bi-partisan members of Congress.

But you would still prefer the remedial Herschel Walker just because he's not a Democrat? You do realize he's only there to advocate for Trump right?

Because we know how all this works. The Senators vote with their party when they must and when not needed, they will vote to show their "bi-partisanship." This happens on both sides. He voted for Justice Jackson. That is enough for me. He also voted for that massive spending bill for Covid. That's also enough for me. Lastly, he voted for the Women's Health Protection Act. That makes him just flat bad in my view. So no, I would never, ever vote for that individual.

Again, I didn't vote for Walker. I don't want him to be our Senator. He is not qualified in my view. Almost any of the other candidates would have been better. I don't get why people keep voting for a person because they are famous. That's gotten us no where.

I'm not threatened by Trump. He's going to fade away in my view. If he runs for President again, I will literally be in the streets campaigning against him. He's not who our country needs. Unlike most people it seems, I do not think Trump runs again. I do not think he can win Georgia and as a result, he has almost no path to being President. I believe Georgia was his litmus test for deciding if he will run again. It was a failure but there are a lot of idiots on my side of the fence voting in this state. Just look at the fact that Marjorie Taylor Green won again. That defies belief in my mind.

I know you'll never agree and that's your choice. But please tell me you can at least understand that if a person believes abortion is murder that they can never vote for someone who is in favor of abortion. I believe it's a human life from conception. You can argue with me about that and you have every right to your view. But again, please understand that because I believe it's a human life I am never going to support anyone who advocates for abortion which in my view is the murder of unborn babies.

I respect that, but is it a true lutmus test for you? If the option was an anti-abortion candidate who was deplorable in all other cases, vs someone who was level headed, and who you agreed with in all other topics except that they were pro-choice do you vote the crappy anti-abortion candidate?

I just don't get that.

Agreed and to add to that, most in the anti-choice congress are anti-life in other ways. I'll take the already born before a fertilized egg if that's the choice. But that's me.

Would you ever, under any circumstances, kill a child? Would you stand by and watch someone kill a child? Would you help them? Would you encourage that?

Easy answer for me.

Hence why I refuse to say Pro-life. It's pro-birth or anti-abortion to me.

In my view that's a cop out. If I had my way, I would make every person in favor of abortion be present for one. Then this debate would be over.

Again, saying Pro-choice isn't being in favor of abortion. How about all Pro-life advocates must be present while someone's wife dies because they aren't allowed to terminate a pregnancy that is killing her. How about every Pro-life person has to adopt one child since they aren't allowed to terminate that pregnancy.

These choices suck. Not my choice to make for someone else

Yikes, really? How about this. We agree to not have abortion in any case except for the life of the mother and though it's still a life, in cases of incest and rape. Then you're happy and I will almost be happy. I would NEVER advocate for a mother being forced to die in those cases. Funny how that always comes up... I suspect it's because folks realize all the other cases are so bad it's indefensible. Let's get rid of the indefensible and we can talk about those choices that suck as you said.

I am probably a lot closer to you on this than you'd believe. What do you think about the Plan B pill? Personally I'd fund ice cream truck like vehicles running daily in neighborhoods giving out contraceptives like freaking candy.

What's so frustrating is the Anti-abortion lobby also being dead set against sex education and contraceptives. It's got to be one of the other.

I think this is a fair assessment, but even so, do the voters in Georgia really believe Walker is intellectually capable to serve? I absolutely can see him winning due to his fame, but there can't be anyone who doesn't see him as a pawn being used, can there? I mean even Herschel may be bright enough to figure that out.
Staying out of his politics - which I'm not sure even he knows - what is completely obvious to anyone that really looks into his background is that Hershal has GREATLY exaggerated how successful he has been (in business, in school, etc.). Add in the fact that he has completely avoided any kind of policy discussions or debates and only done interviews under very flattering situations and I would be very concerned as a Georgia voter. This is the US Senate we are talking about. We have to do better at picking candidates.

This is just not true. It is true in cases like orthodox Catholics, etc. Please do not lump everyone together. That would be like me saying you're pro-abortion and therefore don't mind babies being murdered at 8 months of pregnancy. We go to such extremes with this. Here's what I would say to you regarding this:

Let's be reasonable about abortion. Let's recognize that a life in the womb is still a baby and that it is murder to destroy that life. Once we do that, we can get the ball rolling toward agreement. I am not personally in favor of anything like the Plan B pill but I would never seek to outlaw it. I just want abortions stopped in this country. I personally do not consider Plan B and abortion but I know many on my side of the fence do. I do not want abortions used as a form of birth control. I don't want abortions permitted because a woman, at 5 months of pregnancy, changes her mind about having a baby.

I am not against sex education but that is a very relative term. What kind of sex education? Are we teaching that abstinence is the most moral and best means of birth control? Are we going to teach that sex before marriage isn't an advisable course of action? You may think it's outlandish to teach all that. But the reverse is true as well. Teaching people it's cool to have all the sex they want but please use protection is also outlandish. We know for a fact those types of things are taught. So defining the parameters that are involved would greatly influence how I feel about sex education.

I would suggest that teaching sex education that states that abstinence is the best form to be safe from disease, safe from unwanted pregnancy, and better for you developmentally is best, but if you do have sex, here is what you do to avoid getting pregnant or getting diseases. I would include that we pass out condoms like candy in that class.

Many of the Anti-abortion lobby are dead set against teaching anything but abstinence only.

Also, nobody teaches that sex is great, have all you want, just have an abortion. No school teaches that. That's patently ridiculous to suggest that exists. Who and what district do you think teaches that curriculum of Sex Education?

Sure I can understand that view but I don't see how it jibes with the anti-vax, anti-mask, anti-universal healthcare, anti gun regulation party. Why care so much about a fertilized egg if you don't want to do anything to protect it out of the womb? Just because a politician is pro-choice doesn't mean they are pro-abortion. And just like guns, no laws will ever stop abortions, they'll just be more un-safe. All this to say, a vote for Herschel is not the same thing as a vote for life. Pastor Warnock values life in all it's forms - Herschel has multiple personality disorder and doesn't know what his stance is depending on who he is that day. 😅

Donald Trump endorsements still are highly sought after. He is not doing bad at all. The vast majority would take the batting average on his endorsements. Honestly I am still in shock over what happened here in GA.
