Oh no, they had a plan you are just being obtuse.
The plan was DOGE all along. Department of Government Efficiency. The plan was to be lead by Elon and Vivek and yes, that is 100% absolutely what i voted for and i could not be happier with the results thus far.
Democrats and Repubicans are to blame, but Democrats have been in charge for 12 of the last 16 years and our countries finances are in shambles. Inflation is on the climb again at the same time as the 10yr yield is climbing. The stock market is healthy (so far) but the economy is not. We must change the economy, and quickly, if we want the market to remain healthy.
Fat Piggy Global trading is predicting elevated levels of volatility due to the uncertainties around DOGE. Major changes will be coming. Hundreds of thousands of government employees will be laid off. Over 400 federal departments will be whittled and merged down to 100.
All of this may cause temporary discomfort and even may cause downward pressure on the market. However, we believe these changes are absolutely necessary for the long term health and growth of the country. Just as a forest fire damages at first, what returns in it's place is beautiful and better.
The good news is that DOGE will not be measured in terms of days or weeks, but rather years. We will see how it goes in 4 years and then We The People can decide if we like the direction or not. We spoke loud and clear we weren't going down the path where Democrats were taking us. A landslide and mandate were delivered by the American people to Trump and DOGE. Now all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

I'm all for a faster paths to legal immigration but that has nothing to do with what I said. I said that 15-19 year olds are spoiled making stupid high wages because they don't want to work in the first place. That's a big part of inflation of our food prices.

I was working in the cafeteria on campus, mopping floors, washing dishes. Making 8.25 an hour.
In 2024 money that is 15.42 cents. Should I not have been paid 8.25 in the year 2000 for my labor? I also worked another job at the same time off campus making 8.50 as a broil cook at a restaurant, that was 15.89 in todays money.
This is probably my most frustrating problem with Democrat leadership. They don't realize that Americans are, for the most part, ****ing idiots who read at a 6th grade level. They don't want to be told HOW xyz problem is going to be solved, they just want to be told it will be solved. It's why Trump's messaging works so well - it appeals to idiots.

How are grocery prices/home prices going to get back under control?

Okay, ignoring the financial cost of actually rounding up and expelling millions of people, how will losing the majority of the labor arm of the agriculture and construction industries help lower food and building costs?

I haven't seen a single explanation for how these moves are going to help drive food/construction costs down, and that was the #1 concern of citizens at the voting booth this year. They don't have plans, or at least, have explanations for how their ideas will help improve their lives because they all just got caught up in the slogans and the "IT'S GOING TO WORK, DON'T WORRY ABOUT HOW" feedback loop they live in.

Workers today produce more than they ever have. Yet, somehow, the working class is earning less than their parents. While the concentration of wealth is funneled to the elite.
Yet we are here talking about how deporting illegals is going to make things cost less..... because things costing more is the problem, not what people earn.....
But we can't fix what things cost, because, Americans don't bother to understand how any of this works and thus cannot hold their government accountable. So the corporations will continue to funnel the money out of the working class, and into their own pockets.
It's like no one here remembers who got rich off of the 2008 crash. Or who got rich off the 1933 market crash for that matter. It's the corporations. Workers always lose.

Job: Warehouse worker - manual labor (unairconditioned)
pay: $4.25 / hr
Thats 9.17 an hour in today's money.
The real question here is: Were you fork lift certified?
I worked in a couple warehouses as well. In 1999 I worked a summer in spartanburg running a chemical packing line. I think that was 8 an hour, or 15.36 in todays dollars.
11.42 in todays money. man I must have been a good negotiator.
I remember my first job was selling newspapers over the phone and calling people about polls. That was 4.25 an hour in 1994.

Those jobs are probably why we are successful.
I drove a forklift, but i certainly wasn't certified. It was a family company and so i guess they just skipped that part.
That I completely agree with. I learned a ton working my ass off in kitchens.
I would also say that I've had to change some of my views, frankly I shouldn't have gone to work sick as many times as I did, but we didn't call out sick, it was a badge of honor in food service.
The result of my vote has lead to a DOGE commission lead by Vivek and Elon. They also have added Thomas Massie and some other politicians that i happen to agree with. Massie has been on the debt and budget for a long time, he is the one that made his own deficit counter and wears it on his coat every day. So, yes. I am happy with the result of the commission and the ideas they have put forth. I hope we are also happy with the results at the end of 4 years. If so, Republicans will be a shoe in for another 4 years. Most likely Vivek would be the next president in that scenario.

In 97 i was making 5.15, the minimum wage, while doing sous chef work, as well as washing dishes at a restaurant in Spartanburg. Which in today's dollars is: 10.21
So now you know, you made more than minimum wage workers today do.
Fork lift certified here. Worked on a lumber yard for 2 summers in college (2002 and 2003). $8/hr and got a raise to $8.25/hr. Moved on to bartending in the summers as money and enjoyment were much better.
Bagger / stock boy at Piggly Wiggly in HS before that. $5 and change (whatever min wage was).
8.25 is 14.32 in todays dollars.

I have no clue what your talking about. I didn't say you were a child. My point was that 15-19 year olds starting wages are too high and they don't want to work or even need to work because most of them are spoiled. This is one thing leading to higher food costs

When I was making $5 an hour gas was less than a buck a gallon and I drove a geo metro(sky blue and you want to talk about panty dropper @scotchtiger) getting near 50 mpg.
