Just clarifying for my understanding; you voted for someone with no plan whose plan was to eventually make a plan? They are currently making the plan. They are not in office until January 20th.
Give em a chance.

Oh no, they had a plan you are just being obtuse.Just clarifying for my understanding; you voted for someone with no plan whose plan was to eventually make a plan?
Yes yes, its the poor people who make very little, its THEIR FAULT.We won't be able to lower grocery prices until you get your good for nothing kids to work at Wal-Mart, Target, and Harris teeter for less than $16 an hour. If news papers were still a thing how much would you have to pay a 13 year old to get up at 4:30 to deliver them?
Good times make weak people.(<where we are)
Weak people make hard times.
Hard times make strong people.
Strong people make good times.
.....
I'm all for a faster paths to legal immigration but that has nothing to do with what I said. I said that 15-19 year olds are spoiled making stupid high wages because they don't want to work in the first place. That's a big part of inflation of our food prices.Yes yes, its the poor people who make very little, its THEIR FAULT.
.... and how is replacing non documented workers, who work for very little compared to citizens, going to lower grocery store prices?

This is probably my most frustrating problem with Democrat leadership. They don't realize that Americans are, for the most part, ****ing idiots who read at a 6th grade level. They don't want to be told HOW xyz problem is going to be solved, they just want to be told it will be solved. It's why Trump's messaging works so well - it appeals to idiots. So again, we are supposed to just trust that the guy who brought us "Repeal and Replace" and then had no plan, and then said 8 years later that he now had concepts of a plan, will have a plan this time?
#magasuckers
threads like these illustrate that perfectly. This is probably my most frustrating problem with Democrat leadership. How are grocery prices/home prices going to get back under control?threads like these illustrate that perfectly.
no real analysis being done here by the brain trust, just wild accusations and thoughts and feelings. Where's the formulaic process of these economic geniuses?
How are grocery prices/home prices going to get back under control?
"Well, Vivek and Elon are going to point out gov't overspending and get rid of it. Also, we'll be mass deporting undocumented immigrants who mainly work in agriculture and construction which will give more Americans jobs."
Okay, ignoring the financial cost of actually rounding up and expelling millions of people, how will losing the majority of the labor arm of the agriculture and construction industries help lower food and building costs?
"It's going to Make America Great Again by allowing Americans to take these construction and agriculture jobs (at higher salaries) and that will drive prices down."
I haven't seen a single explanation for how these moves are going to help drive food/construction costs down, and that was the #1 concern of citizens at the voting booth this year. They don't have plans, or at least, have explanations for how their ideas will help improve their lives because they all just got caught up in the slogans and the "IT'S GOING TO WORK, DON'T WORRY ABOUT HOW" feedback loop they live in.
Workers today produce more than they ever have. Yet, somehow, the working class is earning less than their parents. While the concentration of wealth is funneled to the elite. How are grocery prices/home prices going to get back under control?

Question for you:
What jobs did you work in high school or college? What years was that? How much did you make per hour?
Thanks in advance.
I'll start: In the year 2000.
I was working in the cafeteria on campus, mopping floors, washing dishes. Making 8.25 an hour.
In 2024 money that is 15.42 cents. Should I not have been paid 8.25 in the year 2000 for my labor? I also worked another job at the same time off campus making 8.50 as a broil cook at a restaurant, that was 15.89 in todays money.
This is thread worthy.
Year: 1994ish
Job: Warehouse worker - manual labor (unairconditioned)
pay: $4.25 / hr
Thats 9.17 an hour in today's money. This is thread worthy.

11.42 in todays money. man I must have been a good negotiator.Got you beat.
1992
White Castle Restaurant
$5
I was rolling...
1997 started at $5.15 per hour like all working 15/16 year olds at the time. I was happy to work and make my own wages because my parents didn't give me everything I wanted. 15.42 is a ridiculous amount to pay some snot nosed kid. You want to make more, work hard, stay employed, climb the ladder.Question for you:

Those jobs are probably why we are successful.Got you beat.

I drove a forklift, but i certainly wasn't certified. It was a family company and so i guess they just skipped that part.Thats 9.17 an hour in today's money.
The real question here is: Were you fork lift certified?
I worked in a couple warehouses as well. In 1999 I worked a summer in spartanburg running a chemical packing line. I think that was 8 an hour, or 15.36 in todays dollars.
Those jobs are probably why we are successful.
Results thus far? Are you high right now?Oh no, they had a plan you are just being obtuse.
The plan was DOGE all along. Department of Government Efficiency. The plan was to be lead by Elon and Vivek and yes, that is 100% absolutely what i voted for and i could not be happier with the results thus far.
Democrats and Repubicans are to blame, but Democrats have been in charge for 12 of the last 16 years and our countries finances are in shambles. Inflation is on the climb again at the same time as the 10yr yield is climbing. The stock market is healthy (so far) but the economy is not. We must change the economy, and quickly, if we want the market to remain healthy.
Fat Piggy Global trading is predicting elevated levels of volatility due to the uncertainties around DOGE. Major changes will be coming. Hundreds of thousands of government employees will be laid off. Over 400 federal departments will be whittled and merged down to 100.
All of this may cause temporary discomfort and even may cause downward pressure on the market. However, we believe these changes are absolutely necessary for the long term health and growth of the country. Just as a forest fire damages at first, what returns in it's place is beautiful and better.
The good news is that DOGE will not be measured in terms of days or weeks, but rather years. We will see how it goes in 4 years and then We The People can decide if we like the direction or not. We spoke loud and clear we weren't going down the path where Democrats were taking us. A landslide and mandate were delivered by the American people to Trump and DOGE. Now all you have to do is sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
The result of my vote has lead to a DOGE commission lead by Vivek and Elon. They also have added Thomas Massie and some other politicians that i happen to agree with. Massie has been on the debt and budget for a long time, he is the one that made his own deficit counter and wears it on his coat every day. So, yes. I am happy with the result of the commission and the ideas they have put forth. I hope we are also happy with the results at the end of 4 years. If so, Republicans will be a shoe in for another 4 years. Most likely Vivek would be the next president in that scenario. Results thus far? Are you high right now?
Did the same in 1998 at a chemical textile plant that was family run. Made 7.25 an hour there.I drove a forklift, but i certainly wasn't certified. It was a family company and so i guess they just skipped that part.
lol I was not a child, I was 18-20 years old doing work a child couldn't.1997 started at $5.15 per hour like all working 15/16 year olds at the time. 8.25 is 14.32 in todays dollars.Fork lift certified here. Worked on a lumber yard for 2 summers in college (2002 and 2003). $8/hr and got a raise to $8.25/hr. Moved on to bartending in the summers as money and enjoyment were much better.
Bagger / stock boy at Piggly Wiggly in HS before that. $5 and change (whatever min wage was).
Please address the original OP question or get out of my thread. ThanksWe should probably take what the liberals ITT say, since 98% of what they said would happen in the last administration never did and what would happen to Trump never did.
There's no argument for that. You all lie, just as the MSM media has done for a solid 8-10 years.
Don't give me your examples, links, whataboutism, etc.
It's over, you lied, you LOST!!!
I have no clue what your talking about. I didn't say you were a child. My point was that 15-19 year olds starting wages are too high and they don't want to work or even need to work because most of them are spoiled. This is one thing leading to higher food costslol I was not a child, I was 18-20 years old doing work a child couldn't.
In 97 i was making 5.15, the minimum wage, while doing sous chef work, as well as washing dishes at a restaurant in Spartanburg. Which in today's dollars is: 10.21
So now you know, you made more than minimum wage workers today do.
8.25 is 14.32 in todays dollars.
Look at the swinging dick fork lift certified guy here.
probably took home all the babes at happy hour
Me either, you were the one who started whining about children getting 16 dollars an hour. I have no idea why you think this is what is causing things to cost more. You made more money than minimum wage workers today, when you earned minimum wage.I have no clue what your talking about.
