Grocery cost question

People like @firegiver , @yoshi121374 @dpic73 fail to realize is that DOGE will be massively deflationary.

For example; can anyone tell me what happened to the inflation rate in Argentina after Millei took office and slashed government spending?

Anyone care to post the before and after inflation number? Anyone?
We don't have the same issues that Argentina had so let's be honest here - a couple of multi-billionaires will be deciding how much someone's $1200 a month Social Security check will be cut to make room for their unnecessary tax cuts that will add trillions to the deficit. Don't leave that part out.

Seriously? You've made some intelligent and reasonable posts today, and then you post this? Be honest. There's more than one person posting on your account, correct?

You do know they've said they plan to cut 2.5 trillion from the budget, right? You could cut the entirety of dicretionary spending and still come up short, which will only leave entitlements. Do you understand?

They're not cutting Social Security period. Please answer the question. Is there more than one person posting on your account?

Explain how he'll do it please.

"Musk first outlined his highly aggressive target at a raucous campaign rally in New York last weekend, promising to identify “at least $2 trillion in cuts” as part of a formal review of federal agencies that he would conduct if Trump wins next week’s election.

But the audacious pledge, which drew rapt applause, belied a harsh fiscal reality: Slashing the budget that steeply would require decimating an array of government services, including food, health care and housing aid — and it could erode funding for programs that lawmakers in both parties say they want to protect, from defense to Social Security.

By Tuesday, Musk appeared to acknowledge the economic risks of his proposal. On X, the social media site he owns, the tech mogul agreed with another user’s post that argued his federal review — and other Trump policies — risked a “severe overreaction in the economy,” causing financial markets to “tumble” before the country’s fiscal standing later improves.

“Sounds about right,” Musk wrote in response.

In the 2024 fiscal year, the U.S. government spent more than $6.75 trillion, according to the Treasury Department. For Musk to reach his target, particularly in a single year, his review would need to find a way to eliminate about one-third of all federal spending.

The $2 trillion cut would be virtually impossible to achieve, unless Musk extracts savings in areas long considered sacrosanct in Washington, including spending on the military and benefit programs like Social Security.

Surely you know posting other liberals' opinions and their attempts of analytical reasoning is proof of nothing. Opinion pieces like you posted is just fear mongering. Doge is going to make a lot of cuts. How much they will save, no one knows. They will not cut Social Security. That is my opinion, just like its your opinion of the contrary.

Their plan is undoubtedly extensive, incomplete and ever evolving. Yet you want me to tell you how they plan to do it? Dude. You're smarter than that. Specifically, what they plan to do or not do cannot be stated as fact. My opinion: I firmly 100% believe they will not touch SS.

Fine, if we're only talking about your opinion that's one thing, but I'm saying there is no way to cut that much from the budget without including entitlements - period. So either they will or they lied about what they would do. Specious billionaire tech-bros gonna billionaire tech-bro I suppose.

So if they are unsuccessful in this herculean task in reaching their preliminary stated goal they are shooting for, while battling rinos and dems lawfare at ever turn, they lied? Agree to disagree.

I just ask that someone on the MAGA team actually has a plan. It's so weird to me that you guys don't ask them "How?". Particularly after the incredible embarrassment that was "Repeal and Replace"

The real question for me is why they aren't demanding that the tax cuts for the rich be taken off the table - if they are serious about waste and fiscal responsibility.

lol at little dpic telling Elon and Vivek what can and can’t be done.

You don’t know Elon very well. Go ahead and tell him he can’t do something.

You are aware that he shots rockets the size of buildings around the earth and then catches them with a pair of chopsticks, correct?

Save your worries epic. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the ride. We are in MUCH MUCH better hands than we were the last 4 years. Nothing could be worse than the ass clowns currently in charge.

B cause tax cuts for the rich aren’t the problem. Spending is the problem.

You could tax all the billionaires at 100% and it would barely make a dent in the problem.

This is how you know apending is the real
Problem and it’s not even close.

Drastic cuts incoming.

The country is going to change its direction 180 degrees over night. Just like the people demanded with Trumps sweeping mandate.

Dude - the problem is you keep quoting the same idiots in charge. They aren't in charge in any more. Their way will not be the way forward. They are irrelevant.

Here is a hint. Inflation went from 211% to 25% once the reforms were intiated in argentina. DOGE will be massively deflationary. It will be deflationary precisely because its going to cut gov spending. Throw all your old models out the window, if they are not revamped with new inputs they will be totally irrelevant.

The people voted to give Trump 4 years. You want answers while your guy is still in office. You had 12 of the last 16 years to **** it up, its going to take a while to fix it. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

Since Argentina initiated economic reforms under President Javier Milei, there have been significant shifts in the inflation rate. Here is a summary of the changes:

The trajectory of inflation in Argentina under these reforms suggests a challenging path towards economic stabilization, with early signs of success in curbing the previously rampant inflation rates. However, the long-term effects and sustainability of these changes remain to be seen.

Not relevant to our situation - the ROI in the US is at a near normal rate of 2.47%
Argentina's annual inflation rate was extremely high at 211.4%,

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) — Argentina’s poverty rate jumped from almost 42% to 53% during the first six months of Javier Milei’ s presidency, the statistics agency reported Thursday, a steep rise reflecting the pain of the country’s most intense austerity program in recent memory.

Economics is a science. You must follow the science.

Economics does not only apply to poverty stricken countries.

Sorry Dpic, DOGE is going to be massively deflationary. Due to the deflationary pressure from DOGE, the prices of groceries will experience disinflation.

Im so glad we can get this down in writing now. We can add it to the long list of things in your post history that you have been wrong about. Which is basically everything.

Do you think Trump’s tax cuts only lowered taxes for the “rich?” Be honest.

And what is “rich?”

Maybe because they are liars, that have lied for decades and get rewarded for spreading the lies.

To those of us with a brain, this ain't "rocket surgery". For those that have been programmed, they can't see it any other way.

Tax cuts for the rich are not a bad thing.

Why do democrats demonize billionaires?
It’s typical class warfare. Most billionaires are left wing donors. Most of them seem to think that because they know how to make a lot of money that they can solve the worlds problems as well. To me it stems from the secular humanists mindset that mankind can and must perfect human existence. Since they deny God, government is the highest authority and therefore the vehicle for it. Hence the donations to big government politicians. We know of course that both parties are part of the big government establishment bureaucracy and being bought off by the same entities and individuals but the brainwashed types like dpic can’t see past the official Pravda narrative to save their lives. I put dpic73 on ignore years ago. Don’t you why you still respond to him/them. It’s pointless to me. After COVID I don’t really remember any leftists like iceheart08 or yoshi coming on here with mea culpas.

Of course you blocked me because I've mocked you for your conspiratorial dumbassery too many times 🤣
👇

But as far as these inane points about tax cuts for billionaires go, anyone with a scintilla of brain matter knows that if you care about the deficit and fiscal responsibility, the last thing you should do is give even bigger tax breaks to the uber rich, which will just grow the deficit by 4.6 trillion and require gutting discretionary spending and cutting essential services from the less fortunate and veterans. It makes no sense and you know it and your attempts to excuse it is proof that you're a card carrying cult member with no regard for the truth.

And yet, the democrats weren’t targeting the uber rich with their tax increases. $400K isn’t uber rich. Not a billionaire. Not close.

The “billionaire class” rhetoric is exactly what he said - class warfare waged on the ignorant and bitter.

Which path is more fiscally responsible and necessary?

We all know how much you pay in taxes because we've heard it repeatedly, but someone will have to pay for the even deeper tax cuts Trump is doling out to billionaires, in addition to the breaks given to the service industry, OT and Social Security.

Those cuts aren't free and the middle class and below will end up paying for them when they try to cut trillions in spending to pay for them AND when the trillions added to the deficit has to be paid back.

When will you care more about the greater good than making sure you got yours?

I’ve said before that I don’t think “billionaires” (all 1,000 or whatever of them) should get a tax break. I actually think mine should stay the same until we curb spending. My issue with Biden/Harris/dems is they want to increase my taxes. That’s absurd.

Close loopholes. Maybe even add another income tier at $5M or so. Add a Medicare surcharge for the obese. Plenty of ways to raise some revenue while we wait for deep spending cuts to take effect.
