Grocery cost question

Or maybe they won't say that? Maybe they'll give him credit where it's due like I have on the border and if you'll remember, we've previously discussed that I thought Biden managed it badly.

As far as eggs, what i said is true and has nothing to do with Biden or Trump, but if you're claiming it is due to Trump, I'd love to hear your explanation. Have millions of Americans created chicken coops and grown their own eggs in two months time?
Stay tuned. If the solution becomes public knowledge too soon, the libs will work to defeat it. In another month, there's nothing they can do about it. My bil is a bigwig at Cal-Maine Foods in Mississippi. I don't want to say too much but suffice it to say that the solution as suggested by the Trump administration involves collaboration between Cal-Maine, Tyson Foods, and Southwest Valley Constructor involving unique brooding locations built into to specific spans of border wall in the New Mexico area. ...and no, I won't be sending you a link. Suffice it to say that trucks have been pouring out of NM and heading straight for Cal-Maine with more eggs than they know what to do with. It wasn't all Trump as Elon played a large role in formulating the unconventional idea with help from a yet unreleased version of Grok. Tyson had to donate a significant amount of hens and as such you will see a momentary spike in chicken prices at the grocery of roughly 8% or so has been estimated. Once they ironed out the logistics of how to get a sufficient amount of water to these areas of the wall, they were able to overcome the initial issue of thin egg shells caused by insufficient hydration of the hens.

Little nugget my ass. That third glass of buff trace betrayed me. You communist bastards better stay out of nm. Tommy Homan will have you roofied, tatted up ala Tren de Aragua and put on a cattle train from Ciudad Juarez to Tecoluca. If you survive the 72 hour trip, the prison stint will make you wish you hadn't.

Too late, already decoded by the Squad and my blue-haired alphabet gang and our flock of diseased yellow warblers are on their way as we speak. You must not realize the northern half of New Mexico is haven for TDS Marxist democraps and we know people.

Thanks for the tip!

Are grocery prices lower than when Trump was elected? Or are you all just getting my hopes up?

By those dates? No.
Also, you might want to consider when this thread was started, and when Trump claimed he was going to lower prices. It's hard to discuss things when people keep moving the details around thankfully we have date timestamps so people who forget easily can reference them.

Ok so what exactly was the expectation you were benchmarking? Prices are down. Cost growth is down and inflation is down. All cited in multiple articles all over the internet as recently as March 12. What were your expectations? He comes in and the entire country gets groceries at 85% of the cost it was after three months? We’ve been getting pummeled by inflation caused directly by the previous administration printing money. That didn’t happen overnight. Just say you hate America. Want to see Americans fail and hope that we become much more European. Just say what you mean. The overwhelming majority of the country is very happy right now.

This is applicable here. Democrats yesterday received their LOWEST favorability polling numbers in the entire history of the NBC poll. Only 27% of voters have a positive view of the Democratic Party and what they’re doing. One of their own is losing his mind. Burn baby burn.

Quick edit for context as I’m sure many wont watch, republicans are at 59%.

It's really really simple. The solution is chasing you, but you are faster.

In the spirit of good faith discussion on the status of grocery costs going down.

I used the way back machine to check HT egg prices from July 2024.
Dozen HT Grade A (cheapest they got) was 3.49
Today the same product is 6.19

sources: https://web.archive.org/web/2024072...arristeeter.com/pl/eggs-egg-substitutes/02003

Thats almost a 100% increase.
So while Im hearing that things are improving. They haven't yet for actual people. Hope it changes.

Why did you choose July 2024? Biden left office in January 2025.

If I presented my own I would do it correctly with relevant dates so I didn’t look like an idiot. But that’s just me.

So... We are waiting on catturds opinion before you can form your own? Convenient.
Well don't you ever call me unoriginal, because we know you'd just be repeating someone else.

No.

What relevance does July 2025 have to any part of the argument?

THe do your own research club is just believing tweets at face value. It's not like people just go on the Internet and lie...right?

Egg prices: End of January 2025: $7.05 Now: $4.90 retail $3.45 wholesale. That's per perplexity.

Not that hard. To find out.

Here dipshit. Biden didn’t start the chicken massacre til late 2024. The current administration has done an admirable job. You cherry pick your data like most liberals.

You should do vaccine related injuries prior to 2020 and tell us how safe the Covid vaccine is.

Dude y'all keep posting Twitter like it's real life. If grocery prices are down, show m. I just posted that eggs today are twice as expensive as they were in July.
Trump ran on lowering grocery prices. I hope he succeeds but reality is we aren't there yet.

Are you saying that those prices are inaccurate or a misrepresentation? What do you not understand about variability in prices. Do you not understand basic supply and demand. What about artificial reduction of supply. If you can’t understand basic economics, like entry level ninth grade stuff, then you’re in trouble. So kinda like gas prices, egg prices are volatile, that means they can go up and down for your understanding. So if you take a snapshot of the price of that on any given day you can make it fit whatever narrative you’re looking for. However, the majority of those people really didn’t care about grocery prices, they wanted to watch you cry for four years and you aren’t disappointing anyone. You are a dipshit.
Fact: egg prices are down since the new administration took office. But I’d gladly pay $10/dozen if that meant watching us get our ridiculous spending under control to lower the tax burden on workers. And all the other great things they are doing.

Why are you comparing to July? Trump took over in late January and realistically couldn’t do much until a month after. Just an odd timeframe for comparison.

Oh ok, strange behavior when the whole thread is about grocery prices.

Tired Good Morning GIF by Rodney Dangerfield
Your original post was more an insinuation that people voted for Trump bc they were concerned about grocery prices. That’s untrue. Look at how you worded it. You literally said since it’s a very important issue and top of list. Those are your words.

Dear beloved folks who thought through everything and decided to support Donald Trump for president.
How, will our grocery prices be lowered? Since the inflation of our goods was such a very important issue and one that was apparently the top of the list, along with immigration, how will this administration lower food costs?

Its not true that inflation and the economy weren't a top issue in the election?

Huh, guess we must have slipped into an alternate reality recently where that wasn't the case.

When energy prices come down which should happen given trump's pro domestic energy stance, food prices will come down.

I personally voted for all the other stuff that the admin is doing and to prevent the crazy dem party from keeping the white house (and congress) moreso than grocery prices.

@firegiver getting answers. Make sure to send a thank you note to President Trump

funny. my eggs prices went down 10% here. The cheapest is now 5.66 a dozen.
The whole point of this thread, if you need a reminder, was that Trump was elected to lower grocery prices. Besides the immigration issue, that was the number 1 issue.
So we are holding our government accountable. 10% reduction on an over 100% increase is progress. Can you let me know what policies that the admin enacted to cause this decrease in egg prices?

Upon entering office in January 2025, President Donald Trump faced significant pressure to address rising egg prices, which had become a focal point of his campaign promises to lower grocery costs. The surge in egg prices was largely driven by an ongoing avian flu outbreak that had decimated poultry flocks since 2022, coupled with inflationary pressures. In response, the Trump administration implemented several policies aimed at reducing egg prices, primarily through a $1 billion plan announced by Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins in late February 2025. Below is an overview of the key policies enacted:
  1. Enhanced Biosecurity Measures: The administration allocated up to $500 million to strengthen biosecurity at egg-laying facilities. This involved expanding a pilot program from the Biden era, the Wildlife Biosecurity Assessments, which sent USDA staff to poultry farms to identify and mitigate risks of wild bird infiltration—the primary vector for avian flu. The program, previously tested in states like Iowa and Minnesota, was scaled up to cover more farms, with mandatory biosecurity audits for farms experiencing outbreaks and subsidies covering up to 75% of improvement costs. The goal was to reduce flock losses and stabilize egg supply over time.
  2. Increased Egg Imports: To address immediate supply shortages, the USDA facilitated imports of approximately 10 million eggs (about 827,000 dozen) from Mexico and Turkey. This policy aimed to offset domestic production losses caused by the culling of over 127 million egg-laying birds since 2022, providing short-term relief to wholesale egg prices while domestic flocks recovered.
  3. Deregulation for Poultry Producers: The administration pushed to reduce regulatory burdens on poultry farmers, including easing restrictions on backyard chicken ownership and small-scale producers. While this was intended to boost local egg production, experts noted that such measures were unlikely to significantly impact national supply due to minimal enforcement of existing rules and the vulnerability of backyard flocks to avian flu.
  4. Support for Flock Repopulation: The USDA adjusted its indemnification program to encourage faster reporting and repopulation of affected farms. Previously, farmers faced financial losses during the lag time between culling and restocking due to strict containment policies. The Trump administration aimed to streamline this process, though specific changes to payout structures were not fully detailed by early April 2025.
  5. Exploration of Vaccines: The plan included funding for research into avian flu vaccines, a shift from the traditional culling-only approach. While no vaccines were approved for widespread use by April 2025, the administration signaled interest in this long-term strategy to reduce flock losses, despite industry concerns about export restrictions and the impracticality of vaccinating individual birds.
Impact and Context
By March 2025, wholesale egg prices had begun to decline, dropping from a peak of over $8 per dozen in February to around $3.27 per dozen by late March, according to USDA reports. The administration touted this as a success, with claims of a nearly 50-60% reduction since Trump took office. However, retail prices remained high—averaging $5.90 per dozen in early 2025—due to a lag between wholesale and consumer pricing, as grocers adjusted to prior losses and anticipated holiday demand (e.g., Easter and Passover in mid-April). The decline in wholesale prices was attributed to a combination of reduced avian flu cases, lower consumer demand due to high prices, and the influx of imported eggs, rather than solely the administration’s actions.
Critics, including some Democrats and economists, argued that these policies were not revolutionary, building on existing frameworks like Biden’s biosecurity efforts, and that broader economic factors—such as Trump’s proposed tariffs and deportation plans—could counteract price reductions by increasing production costs. Nonetheless, the administration’s focus on biosecurity and imports provided tangible steps toward stabilizing the egg market in its early months.
These policies reflect Trump’s initial approach to tackling egg prices upon entering office, though their full effect on retail costs and long-term supply remains unfolding as of April 3, 2025.
