Herschel Speaks

I voted against the mongoloid he endorsed in my district- Katie Arrington. Nancy Mace won the Republican nomination here.

That said, given the choice between most Trump-endorsed republicans and a candidate who will be a reliable vote for leftist democrat policies, I would go with the former.

Here's the problem: if he's not president and there's nobody to hold him at least a little accountable, there's no ****ing telling what he's going to ask his sycophants to do. Could be literally anything.

I would suggest that voting for leftists in the face of trump candidates is actually the more prudent thing to do long term. The idea being that if given a chance to rule, leftists will do a bunch of insane shit the majority of Americans hate, and there will be significant backlash that can be used by Romney/bush Republicans to win back seats.

I can't believe you feel that way. There is no force on Earth more destructive than leftist policies. I know you're a smart guy and it just boggles my mind how you don't see that. Again the myth of Donald Trump is so much greater than the reality and I don't understand what the hell is happening to you guys there's allowed you to fall into this pit.

The faster the Republic is rid of Romney and Bush type Republicans the better. They are worse than Trumpies every day of the week. And Trumpies are pretty damn bad.

The reason folks on the left like Romney/Bush style Republicans is that they are pliable, milk toast politicos who will always compromise for more big government. But when they are in office....they burn people like Bush in effigy with a Hitler mustache painted above his lip. No more of that. No more giving in on core principles in the name of getting along. I am 100% in favor of compromise where possible though and we have so many extremists in Congress that it has become impossible to get there. Trump isn't any better because he's a big government bully. No thank you for that either. We need a far more libertarian central government that will allow the federalist model to function effectively. The era of a big federal apparatus needs to be OVER!

Things are just way too far out of country. On the other side, I remember people in church saying Obama may have been the anti-christ as described in The Bible. Just insane crap on both sides and the rhetoric has only increased from there. It's all so crazy! We can't keep demonizing each other this way. And I say that knowing I believe that leftism (See: AOC, the squad, etc.) is the most dangerous force on Earth right now. So while I can diagnose the problem, I still fall prey to the illness.

Bullshit. The most destructive, divisive force we've ever had in that position. The list of things he's done is long but two things in particular made me hate the guy.

His years long campaign to destroy Obama care with nothing to replace it would have had catastrophic consequences for some people I know personally. And it was just to be spiteful.

The division he created affected everyone I know. It destroyed relationships with friends and families in a way I never could have imagined. One friend no longer even speaks to his mother, who he was very close with. It drove a wedge between lots of people in my extended family as well. The way he poisoned the well was disgusting and indecent.

I could go on but those things stand out for me.

These people have bigger problems than Donald Trump. I can’t think of a single relationship of mine that he affected.

Republicans failed to prepare an alternative for ACA, and it was one of the biggest displays of incompetence for the party.

I'm not sure I'd go as far as you are, "leftist policies are the most destructive on earth", but I'm thinking you are misinterpreting my statement. What I'm saying is that if given the opportunity to control the legislative process, it will be so obvious to the rest of the country that "leftists" can't be left in charge, that the return of order will come faster than if we elect trump, because there's no telling what would happen if he's president again.

Donald trump and his ego and his idiocy and lies might, quite literally, end the republic as we know it in this country.

Unfortunately I have seen some of the things that you were talking about in my sphere as well. But those things are not Trump's fault. People who blew up relationships over Trump are the ones that are to blame. Making him responsible is ridiculous. We all have a choice how we're going to act about things.

For example, I know that you and I probably don't like each other very much but if you were in need I would bend over backwards to help you because it is what is right. We are brothers in humanity whether we like it or not at times and as such we should serve and love each other. Nothing you believe politically is going to change that.

We have to start rising above these things because as the rhetoric heightens and gets more and more hyperbolic it's only going to get worse. At some point people need to start being an example for a better way to approach things. That we are failing to do that now is not Trump's fault and you shouldn't blame him for that. He's the same guy he's always been and that includes when he was beloved by people on the left and a celebrity that everyone enjoyed listening to.

You must not have friends and family that vote differently. It was a national phenomenon, not just local to me and those I know. It got so bad that the worst thing you could say about someone was they are a Trump supporter. Still is honestly lol

That says more about those people and their delusions about Trump than it does about Trump himself. Maybe you should think about that. I know a lot of others should. Especially since so much about him has been completely fabricated and has no basis in reality. It just gets a pass because his demeanor and rhetoric are so blunt and off-putting that no one really bothers to look for truth.

Everyone of my cousins on my mothers side and their spouses (total of 7 people) all voted for Biden and we just choose to not discuss politics and if we do its to an extremely minimal degree. That's how it should be in my opinion, if you can't agree, then agree to disagree.

I did lose one acquaintance who threatened to kill and begging/rooting for the death of DJT (when he got COVID) during 2020 and I called him out that his behavior was absolutely inhumane which led to me getting threatened as well. Fun times. All my 'left' friends from high school we just hardly ever talk politics when we hangout.

OK, I'll tell half the country to listen to you. The MAGAs won't listen to shit though. Trump is their God and nothing else matters.

This is why we never get anywhere. We keep pretending that bad behavior from one side excuses it for the other side. It doesn't. We have to be better than that. Worry less about what maga people do and more about what you do. I know they're out there but I never see them and I am never around them. But I do see and spend time around a lot of people on the left who equal their vitriol and disdain for others or at least what they perceive them to be. When you create a such an nefarious force in the country of can be used to justify a lot of horrible things. That's what we see going on right now and it's completely unwarranted

I certainly do. Family, work, friends. But most people are rational and don't let politics rule their life. Agree to disagree and move on. Or avoid discussing politics if it's divisive.

To be fair, you are sidestepping too. Let me make this easy for everyone:
  • Joe Biden is a liar, low IQ for his role and a terrible president
  • Herschel is apparently a liar, low IQ for the senate and is a terrible candidate
These are the facts and they are undisputed. The difference is one of them will probably vote the direction I would prefer in the senate, and really have almost no power beyond that task.
I am advocating my guy Herschel who I think is a much better human being than China Joe and the Marxist left in the uniparty.

My boss at work is as liberal as you are and we have some intense chats on politics regularly but neither of us take it personally. I do the same with one of my brothers who is conservative but hates Trump and still even believes the Trump Russia fairytale but we just don't get all pissy about it. I know some people though who do take it way too far.

That's exactly the way I try to operate myself. It's hardest to ignore when people you know post the same lies and divisive bs that Trump does all over social media daily. It inevitably ends with people arguing with each other, unfriending each other and so on. It's exhausting.

All that ethereal kumbaya is great and all but when the President himself wants to incite a Civil War, according to his former campaign manager, it's not a stretch that it will create turmoil.

Parscale says Trump rhetoric ‘killed someone’ on Jan. 6

Ex-Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale blamed then-President Trump’s rhetoric for the death of a woman involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, according to new evidence shared Tuesday by the committee.
In text messages sent on the evening of Jan. 6, longtime Trump supporter Parscale said that the riot was “about Trump pushing for uncertainty in our country.”
“A sitting president asking for civil war,” Parscale said in texts to Katrina Pierson, a former Trump campaign official who was reportedly involved in organizing Trump’s pre-riot rally.

Screenshots of the texts were displayed during the select committee’s latest public hearing Tuesday afternoon, which focused largely on the involvement of domestic violent extremist groups in the Jan. 6 insurrection.
“This week I feel guilty for helping him win,” Parscale wrote.

Ok libertarians, start first with defunding corporate welfare. Get back all the PPP loans and revoke all corporate citizenship rights gained over the last 150 years. Then you can start over in your pure utopia of marlboro men and white picket fences.

It's interesting that you guys have no real answers so you just poo poo everything and pretend like that makes sense. That is not a strategy my friend.

Didn't need him to tell us - we experienced it every day Growls. Hardly a day went by that he didn't drop some kind of obnoxious bomb full of lies. It certainly felt like a Civil War to me and most people I know. And the sad thing was, no matter how outrageous his lies were, if he said it twice it became gospel to all the MAGA mynahs and they squawked it in unison all over social media. I'm sure you loved it though since his venom wasn't directed at you.

Mace only won after she flew up to Trump Tower to toss his salad on camera.

A Trump endorsed candidate will only vote the way Trump wants them to whether it's good for the country or not. I think you're being naive.

That article is from February. But regardless, living in the district and hearing/seeing the ads, interviews, etc, Arrington was very much the Trump-endorsed candidate. Every yard sign told us so. Which was your specific point - “by voting for every mongoloid he endorses.” He did not endorse Nancy Mace in this race.

So my point remains clear and accurate - I did not vote for the Trump-endorsed candidate and my district did not elect the Trump-endorsed candidate.

It’s okay to just say, “well good for SC-1” when presented with this information and not talk about a young lady tossing salad. This is another example of how you’ve gone so hard into the hyperpartisanship and vitriol that is just horrible for our country.

Point taken. Good for SC-1.

I believe voting for Herschel also shows hyperpartisanship. Party over Competence is what you've decided is best for our country, even though you know his voting will reflect the will of a shadow President who doesn't have the country's best interests at heart. JMO

I know, it's laughable. After talking about an infrastructure bill for four years that he couldn't get done, he wanted to penalize Republicans that voted for Biden's bill. His only goal is to make Democrats look worse. Sad really.

"Former President Donald Trump slammed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Republicans who voted in favor of the infrastructure bill on Sunday.

"All Republicans who voted for Democrat longevity should be ashamed of themselves," Trump said in a statement.

On Friday, 13 House Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the $1.2 trillion bipartisan infrastructure bill. The Bill passed in the Senate in August with 19 Republicans, including McConnell, voting in favor alongside every Democrat.

The legislation included funds for roads, highways, and bridges, alongside electric vehicles, clean energy, and high-speed broadband.

Trump was critical of GOP senators who voted in favor of the bill and said they "voted thinking that helping the Democrats is such a wonderful thing to do, so politically correct. They just don't get it!"

The former president called Republican lawmakers who supported the measure RINOs, or Republicans in name only, and added that their support would mean Democrats would rely on their help to pass the $1.75 trillion social spending bill."

That’s not it, at least not from my perspective. Voting for leftist policies does not demonstrate competence in leading/governing the country, so the alternative to a guy like Herschel isn’t competence in my mind. It’s a vote for and a higher likelihood of bad policy.

If there were 1-2 more democrat votes in the senate, we would have added a multi-trillion dollar entitlement package that would have further fueled inflation and added to our perpetual debt.

If there were 1-2 more democrat votes, we may have eliminated the filibuster, paving the way for wild swings in policy that would follow political party shifts, creating instability and further eroding the need to compromise.

If there were 1-2 more democrat votes, we may be watching the destruction of the Supreme Court via court packing.

It has nothing to do with Trump or hyperpartisanship. It has everything to do with restricting the democrat party from passing damaging legislation.

i've got bad news for you if you think mcconnell isn't going to destroy the filibuster the moment the GOP retakes control of the senate and he needs to do it.

the man withheld a vote for a supreme court judge for a year on some bullshit while pushing through a supreme court nom in under a month.

Did the deficit go up or down with a Republican-controlled Congress in the first two years of the Trump presidency?

Did you oppose the massive amount of Covid-related spending Trump proudly signed? He really wanted to make sure his signature was on the checks.

Funny how all the Republican budget hawks come out when the Democrats want to do anything.

Trump and Bush both spent too recklessly. My preference would be a dramatic reduction in government size, scale and spending.

I think the first COVID relief package (at least in some form) was needed to stop the bleeding and market free fall, but once things stabilized, we should have stopped.

What are you going to cut? You’re not cutting your way through trillion dollar deficits without setting off a massive recession, harming a lot of people, or raising taxes.
