In reality?
Before today, ESPN’s FPI had our defense rated 16th and the FEI had us rated 13th. I bring this up because these ratings take into account “garbage time”.
We gave up 135 yards and 14 points today in garbage time. We gave up like 200 yards and 21 points to NCST in garbage time. Over 100 yards and a TD to Stanford. Etc. You get the point.
We have some warts for sure but, so far, our defense in regular time has been pretty efficient. And as much as it sucks to see points given up late, we have a lot of young guys that need game reps and I think that’s going to pay dividends down the road.
