For discussion purposes, let's say that after the 2019 season (where we played LSU in the natty), Dabo retired, went in to broadcasting, or otherwise decided to leave Clemson, and we had hired a new head coach. For this scenario, assume that it was an external hire (ie: we didn't promote Venables or one of the other coordinators).
This new coach had made all the same moves Dabo has made from that point in time to the present:
- Same coaching hires/fires beginning with hiring Grisham as WRs coach to replace Jeff Scott
- Same recruiting philosophy
- Same stance on NIL and the portal
- Exact same recruiting results, including the state of our current class
- Exact same on field results beginning with the 2020 season
Does this coach still have their job coaching Clemson football in 2025?
And before anyone gets too bent out of shape, this is not meant to be a fire Dabo thread. The run he had us on from 2015-2020 has justifiably earned him more capital than our hypothetical coach in this scenario.
