Nice, that should stop the virus in its tracks. We went from "Wash your hands and don't touch your face" to "Put this cloth that sits in your car, your desk, your pocket (where you keep change and your phone); strap it to your face and all is good.

If you can't find a free one, which you can pretty easily, a pack of 50 on amazon is $8.49. I am unsanitary I guess but I use the same blue disposable mask for like 2 or 3 weeks before switching to a new one. A pack of 50 would last me like 2 or 3 years.

2.5 million people die a year. Life can't shut down because people die. If you're concerned about the virus or have pre existing conditions, stay your ass at home. Thats the purpose of all the legislation they've been passing thats bankrupting our country even more. Everywhere you hear about opt outs, outing out of class, put of games, out of work, out of teaching, etc. What about those of us in society that know the risks and want to make the best decision for themselves on how they want to live? The medical industry was subsidized for every covid patient as they were required to postpone elective surgery. So naturally everybody is covid for the hospital so they get paid.
There is a mountain of difference between dying with something and dying from something. It would be like my buddy having a heart attack and dying, but he had herpes too so its listed as a herpes related death.

It's pretty obvious that the US handled this about as badly as we could have.

There is ZERO reason to have any business restrictions at this point. There are numerous videos to show anyone how to make a mask that will protect them from other people. No one has to rely on anyone else to protect them. If you don't want to do that stay home! The problem is that we are to a point in this country that a large segment of the population thinks everyone else should provide for them or protect them so they don't have to do it for themselves. I mean I'm not ashamed to say I do it and you are right, I do it to make people happy and I guess there could be a sanitary element to it but for context. Today I went to the driving range during lunch. I wore a mask to pay for my bucket of balls that took about 1 minute or less. I'm not throwing that mask away or worrying with a new one for that. That's what I mean by using the same one multiple times. I probably have about 1 hr of use in a mask before I trash it. I'm just never wearing one for more than 5 minutes. To each their own I guess.
I know you wash yours regularly but I think you are semi rare in that aspect. I would bet that people like me that wear one for less than 5 min per day don't wash theirs regularly. I think people would be surprised at how often, or should I say little, people wash the cloth ones which hold in far more moisture and germs than the flimsy blue medical ones.

It is true that in the states where we don't have a culture of mask wearing that folks putting their hands on their noses and mouths was a problem but N95's absolutely work and the way the virus spreads through droplets and aerosol is more contagious than former viruses. What is interesting is how much the mask wearing has reduced the flu this season. If more folks wore masks when they were feeling sick and went to work anyway, lots less flu spread in this country. Also masks work when enough people are wearing them.

If 80% of the population was vaccinated and cases were low, we would not need masks. Instead, you twist it to imply that we will always have to wear masks.

Far more have complications and significant morbidity. 1 in 10 are long haulers for months and 1 in ~40 are long haulers for much longer. Many suffer permanent lung and heart damage.

There is some truth to your post, but a lot of hyperbole. A better analogy would be your buddy having a heart attack after getting a covid 19 heart muscle infection, or covid causing your blood to clot more easily, resulting in blood clots to the lungs...causing the heart attack. There isn't such a disconnect like in herpes.
The final common pathway for all infections that lead to death is either a heart attack or stroke.
People should have the freedom to make decisions for themselves and how they want to live. If that decision is not wearing a mask and not getting a vaccine, they are brainless idiots.

What research? I have read through a dozen of these pissing match threads and yet no one has provided any conclusive "Evidence Based" data that shows masks prevent the spread of viruses. None. Sure there are some circumstantial studies but they don't show conclusive evidence. Now, there are studies out that show they do not work. One recently out of Denmark. Hell, even Dr. Fauci and the Surgeon General have stated they do not provide protection against viruses. The CDC, on its own website had a study done out of Wuhan that showed non pharmaceutical masks show no affect on the prevention of airborne particles. That study now is gone and hidden. You need more evidence? 2 Months ago they said one mask, now they are saying to get 70% protection you need two, to get 90% protection you need three, yet two months ago you and others were spewing the same regurgitated BS you hear on CNN and it was not accurate. NOT Accurate, but you don't question what these people are telling you?
The reality is the truth about masks came out before COVID was politicized and those leaders told us Masks are for optics and they do not work. Infectious disease doctors have come out claiming the same and our real defense against any virus is vaccines, social distancing practices and herd immunity.
