I think Venables has made a mistake in taking multiple coaches from the Clemson tree. Oklahoma is going to have a difficult time pulling prospects from Clemson's footprint. Bates is wasting his time trying to pull defensive linemen from Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina. Venables should have hired one or two position coaches with Texas ties.
I don't see Venables setting up a culture to "compete" with Clemson. He is going full out SEC style with offers to underclassmen. They have African American Studies to pump athletes through the classroom. I hope he copies Saban and is brutally honest with recruits that they are an NFL preparation school and you have to compete for playing time. No lipstick on a pig selling "family values" when you churn players that don't perform.
