I'm sure Dabo has his reasons, but man the entertainment value of the spring game has nosedived in recent years. In addition to the injuries that have plagued this team (especially the offense) and the decision to sit older guys (which is fine), we have the perpetual problem of so much front line talent and depth on the DL compared to the OL. As we all know, on a yearly basis it is a struggle to field a good to great OL, meanwhile on the other side of the ball we're known as DLU for a reason.
What are the pros and cons of not going with 1s vs 1s, 2s vs 2s, etc in this game? They obviously have all spring to run their practices as they see fit while making evaluations. The domination upfront by the DL makes it seemingly impossible for the offense to ever get any real rhythm going, and I don't know how as a coach you could make broad determinations about individual performances when you have such a huge mismatch at the LOS on a down by down basis.
