Is he truly this ignorant?

I’m guessing he was exaggerating the cost of the flight … or maybe he actually doesn’t known how much the cost is. I have to imagine he hasn’t flown commercial in quite sometime … or maybe ever.

I will also say this … I’m totally on board with 99% of what Trump and ICE are doing in LA … with that said, calling up active duty Marines is a horrible mistake.

The Marines are not and should not be used as a police force … they are meant to obliterate and kill the enemy, and they are the best in the world at what they do. I’m gravely concerned that some Transtifa Black Bloc ahole is gonna bite off more they/them can chew with a 20year old grunt from 29 Palms.

As I understand it the marines won’t be policing, only defending federal buildings. Correct me if I’m wrong please.

Airlines keep finding ways to add fees without advertising the whole price. It is deceptive pricing.

For example, you can no longer carry on a bag without paying a $40 fee. If you want to use the overhead bin ….. $40

You have to give them a credit card 💳 n advance and if your bag is too big they just charge your card.

No longer is it good enough to have a conforming carry on size. To avoid the fee your whole bag must fit under rhe seat in front of you. So essentially a backpack.

Seems ridiculous and deceptive.

Or travel a decent amount or get a premium CC and all fees are waived. I get like 3 free checked bags for myself on Delta.

The context for which he made the statement was for public transportation, not individuals with perks

Do you fly spirit and frontier exclusively?

I fly whatever is the cheapest fair. I don’t fly often so I just fly the cheapest.

I usually fly the whole family so I’m getting 6-7 tickets minimum so I don’t like paying for premium.

I just get annoyed at the hidden fees. When comparing the cost from years ago it’s important to compare apples to apples which means including the hidden fees.

What airlines are you flying that charge for carry ons? I fly a good bit and have never paid for a carry on.

I said it in another thread that I would use active military as the last resort

Problem is Gavin Newsom and Mayor Bass have become paralyzed and are doing very little

Trump is doing what any President should do and that is protect America when needed

It is now needed

Think southwest just came out saying they were gonna charge $30 for a carry on, as well. Iirc their old CEO said it was a terrible idea for long term profits but McKinsey or whoever said it would be a good short term profit driver so they fired the CEO and went ahead with it

Southwest is falling apart. Doing away with open seating, having class fares, charging more for bags. Been flying American pretty exclusively for the last year+ even though southwest is often cheaper.

All airlines are pretty transparent if you pay attention to their bag costs.

Recently major airlines have started offering basement prices to compete with Spirit and frontier that doesn't include checked bags.

It's pretty obvious if you look to see what's included.

Checked bags not carry-ons but still, just straight up 86 one of your long-standing brand promises because a McKinsey consultant told you to... The CEO was right.

I don’t mind them trying to make more money as long as 1) the prices are displayed clearly 2) there is ample competition.

I hate the deceptive pricing.

Also hate the focus on short term, and do think they will pay a price for those decisions with lower profits.

A lot of business now simply focus on getting to the next quarterly report and don’t think much further. Airlines are particularly guilty of this, which left them really up the creek when Covid hit.

I’ve seen it suggested before we should move from quarterly reporting to semi annual or annual reporting. Not the worst idea.

I’m convinced this shift from long term corporate stability to short term quarterly earnings is one of the biggest ****ups in corporate America. It’s being driven almost entirely by consulting firms/private equity who are sacrificing the long term health of a company so upper management can tout quarterly earnings

Private equity is the devil. It has absolutely made everything about instant bottom line profits and then selling the company. No long term objectives or thoughts of how to be a sustainable entity. Nothing but profit and get out.

Would make a lot of sense especially since businesses are so cyclical. Would take a company to just do it and show they can be successful with it and others would do the same.

Or does the SEC require quarterly reports?

Public companies must report quarterly
