Is this kid skipping college to play in New Zealand a trend or an anomaly?

If you haven't seen it, RJ Hampton, who is a top 10 basketball recruit has announced he's going to skip college and play 1 year of pro ball in New Zealand and then go to the NBA.

Is this the start of a trend for these top 10 kids or just a 1 off?
