Trump will have to move to the middle left some to work with the dems, while they are actively investigating him for impeachment. It is exactly what Clinton had to do (except to the right). Clinton was impeached in the house and not in the democrat controlled senate. The same thing could happen here.
The big questions for trump are:
will his fanatic base tolerate any movement on his part to the middle?

Rational immigration reform was a position held by Clinton and even Obama when he first ran for office. It’s only the newer, extreme parts of the Democrat party that are open border loons. There’s middle ground with reasonable republicans and Clinton (Bill) Democrats.
And there’s also room in the middle to improve Obamacare and make positive changes to healthcare.
Trump might seem like he’s swinging hard to the middle when it’s where he, a former democrat, has wanted to go the entire time.

How many Trump appointments in the State Dept, judgeships, and other agancies, etc have yet to be confirmed by the Senate? An unprecedented number. How many Rhino repubs retired and did not seek re=election in the House? An unprecedented number. All but Goodlatte and Gowdy are meaningless to Trump. Watch what happens with Goodlatte and Gowdy now that the Senate confirmation process has been solidified. Both of these guys have seen all the un-redacted DOJ/FBI docs while serving in their respective committee chairs.

I actually agree with everything you said except for the last paragraph, where you took a huge leap with no real evidence. A couple of points...
Trump campaigned for the senate candidates in states that he easily won. We know donny does not like to lose, so he only focused on the areas where he was more likely to "win".
A "blue wave" would have been the dems taking control of the senate and the house, that did not happen.
57% of americans who voted for senators voted democratic (and crazily, the dems still lost senate seats). Trump's disapproval rating is at 52%. Those are bad signs for Trump in 2020. Add to that the likelihood of another recession before 2020 and our crippling deficit created by Trump, things are not looking good for him.
I don't know if I would characterize it as "He got rid of them" seeing as they both retired.
Well, they retired because of him. Just like 40 or so Rino congressmen. Heck, Paul Ryan basically said so when he retired. Said he didn't want to be around when the dems took the house. Said it last year. Wonder how many would have won re-election had they stayed? They weren't on board with Trump from the beginning. Good riddance, imo.
