Let me preface this as I am not speaking in support of Augusta National. Just equity conversation amongst all “clubs”.
There are numerous clubs - golf, social, hunting, athletic, education that still discriminate via sex and even race. I’m not saying Augusta is the postcard of openness but they do now have women and black members.
I just find it ridiculous that a private club that sponsors an annual invitational gets all the attention(no I’m not being naive why) for how they need to run their club when there are so many doing worse than they are.
I guess what I’m saying is.... when you bring up Augusta, all 1000s of other clubs that are still doing it need to put in the same breathe.
I don't give a shit about China. I don 't trust them at all. I am offended by the POTUS making light of Covid-19 a virus that has killed over 120k American citizens. He gets in front of his followers and makes jokes about so many things as if he is a comedian. But he isn't. People say you should respect the office of the presidency, but Trump doesn't do that so why should we. He has made a mockery of the office and that is a shame.
Socialism has no borders or boundaries. Nothing is sacred to anarchists. There is no satisfying their hunger to destroy our freedom or those things that free people value. This a battle for the American way of life. There is no middle ground in this fight.
When people choose to see everything through the prism of race and racism, then everything can be turned into race and racism. That should be among the topics being discussed right now. People want this country to be the horrible, awful racist place their narrative suggests it is. And in an effort to achieve that, they view everything through that prism and it makes life just miserable for everyone. It's such a load of crap and one can only wonder how long it will be until people start saying what's needed and that's just a statement that we can't work on real problems when new ones keep getting conjured up in an effort to forward a narrative.
There are a lot of real problems to solve in this country and we're only going to solve them working together. We can't defeat racism by seeing everything is racist and looking for it inside of every single aspect of society. History demonstrates what we're going to end up doing is creating a lot more racism on both sides and it will have devastating consequences as we're starting to see already.

Clubs and organizations are changing all the time to be more inclusive. It's not called "Scouts" instead of "Boy Scouts" anymore for nothing. The movement is definitely happening.

I always thought of it as the best golfers in the world..as in they are "masters" of the game. Slavery sure as hell never entered the equation

I think it could be a little more or a little less, but yes I believe that to be an accurate number. And Mr.ButthoIe I certainly don't think the POTUS should make light of this virus just so he can get some laughs from his followers. I mean if it wasn't such a threat why did he shut everything down causing millions to lose their jobs and causing the US gov to spend 5 to 6 trillion so far on the bailout?

Tell me something in your lifetime how many presidents have you seen that act as immaturely as Trump? How many adult professionals have you ever seen act like him in any profession? I was born in 62 and no president, Republican or Democrat, has ever been as uninformed about government or our country's history and acted as immaturely as Trump, and it's not even close.

Augusta has made NUMEROUS changes but they won’t get any credit for it. They made changes on their own schedule.
Organizations like the Scouts made changes because they had to. Their PR and incidence rates has been garbage for 15 years. And it’s much worse when you go back 40 years when they and Catholic Church swept shit under the rug.
Not being argumentative but there is plenty of white oppression and other symbolism that on the surface appear fine but horrible underneath.

I think these name change crusades are LAZY. They pick something that is easy to associate. What happens in 200 years when white freckled Irish are a small minority group? Do we change it then? The Irish were picked on when they arrived to the US.
Nobody ever mentions the TarHeels. It couldn’t be a more offensive name if anyone actually investigated it. The Spartans and Trojans? If there were - God forbid - a team with an African American mascot that was named the Blackskins, people would rightly lose their shit. I don't need to go searching through past actions that are associated with a particular mascot/name to know that using "Redskins" is messed-up. It's blatantly there in the brand name.
