It took 20 mins after the loss and Dawn was already playing the Race card and victim role. What a piece of shit

Some of the people in the media, when you're gathering in public, you're saying things about our team, and you're being heard, and it's being brought back to me," Staley said. "And these are the people that write nationally for our sport."

South Carolina's two-time national champion coach clarified that she and her team aren't above valid criticism, "but when you say things that you probably should be saying in your home on the phone or texting out in public and you're being heard, and you are a national writer for our sport, it just confirms what we already know. So watch what you say when you're in public and you're talking about my team in particular."

Win or lose, South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley knew she had to go to bat for her roster after Friday's Final Four games.

So, when a reporter asked Staley about "the truth about her team" and its style of play after a 77-73 loss to Iowa in the national semifinals, she delivered a clear message about her majority Black roster to the sporting world at large - and one unnamed national media member in particular.

"We're not bar fighters," Staley said. "We're not thugs. We're not monkeys. We're not street fighters. This team exemplifies how you need to approach basketball on the court and off the court. And I do think that that's sometimes brought into the game, and it hurts."

Staley said she felt compelled to defend USC

Not saying she’s in the right, but…if someone from the national media was overheard saying Clemson football played like a bunch of dirty thugs, how would you expect Dabo to react?

Evidence suggests he’d call them out by name…

Not saying this is the same thing…but it is probably a lot more similar than most of you would probably care to admit.

Typical racist playbook- accuse others of what you actually are

Listening to Dawn speak victimhood and racism u would have thought she grew up as hard as Harriet Tubman
Too funny considering posters on this board went out of their way to call the young ladies "Bigfoot". She's correct my head in the sand friend that people have dragged her players through the race muck.

Absolutely no comparison. You’re just trying to make Dawn look better after her racist rant and you look like an unequivocal moron.

So you are taking her word she "overheard"? Did YOU "overhear" anyone? Kinda like what Muschamp and team said after 2016 beatdown, don't you think? More like a "diversion" in my opinion.

Spent time with a group of gamecocks at a bar in Greenville before the Clemson/SC baseball game in March. I was shocked to hear how they feel about her. Liked the winning but not so much her.
I have heard similar comments from some Cock buddies. Can't stand her

Well Dabo her Cowherd firsthand because Cowherd has a national show where he stated that very thing. Dawn heard it "second hand". much like the Duke vs BYU volleyball match

There was a guy that used to live in my neighborhood that worked part time for the UofSC Athletic Department. He was a full time pastor and did UofSC work on the side. He told a group of us that Dawn Staley was the most arrogant rude person at the entire University. He loved Frank Martin and said he demeanor on the court was a 180 from his demeanor off the court.

No shocker. Staleys been this way the entire time. Lose a game, blame others and scream victim. Rinse and repeat with her.

Shes not much on the humble or humility, gracious scale but a good coach nonetheless.

Sasquatch, bull, man - not racist terms.

Slang for BOB (big ole bitch). Her team is massive and plays bully ball. What does she expect people to say? That they're soft and petite?

They just ran into a more skilled team with the best player on the planet.

As an aside- not real impressive with Dawn's Xs and Os. They played like they thought they could just bully their way to victory. No skill. No scheme.

I personally think the "monkeys" thing is what I would question the most. THAT is when you are basically throwing the race card on the table.

Serious question as I think you have basketball knowledge and I haven’t watched a single minute of girl’s bb. How would Hunter Tyson or PJ do if they “identified” as female and played against a team like the lady cocks?

I’m luck enough that I haven’t watched 2 minutes of actual game time of women’s basketball combined in the last 5 years . I read that that team rebounded 50% of their missed shots that’s how much bigger and stronger they are than their opponents.

It’s completely hilarious that even the trashiest red neck contingency of u of sc fans pretend that women’s basketball is a sport they like . additionally they pretend that someone who’s the embodiment of everything they complain about on being woke on book face is someone they love and support on the coach of their program.

U of sc couldn’t beat a good men’s high school team so they’d probably be pretty good .

Maybe it would have helped the situation if they didn’t play that way.
