It's funny that the one main theme I've seen from MAGA since the election has been grievances. Every non-MAGA I've seen post on here since the election has said "hate the man, but he won, and i'm hoping for the best" (more or less.) MY POINT, was at the folks posting about Dems bitching about Trump not being their President. Trump is their President, just like he's my President. But I DID think that it was a bit hypocritical for folks that have been crying, pissing, and moaning for 4 years about Trump losing a fair election in 2020 (just like he won a fair election in 2016 and 2024) would be throwing THAT particular stone.

Case in point on the birthright citizenship executive order directly contradicting the 14th amendment. Can you imagine what Trump and MAGA would have said if Biden had done something similar (say to the 1st or 2nd amendment)? They would be up in arms and rightfully so. The truth is that I don't really have a hard and fast opinion on birthright citizenship. I can see why you would or would not like it. But there's no doubt that this is part of the constitution and no Executive Order by the President of the US should be able to overrule that. There's a process to change the constitution and that's what you need to do to change it.

IMHO, you don't get to pick and choose which parts of it you want to apply and which we can ignore. Should Trump revoke the right of women to vote (the 19th Amendment)? Of course not. What if Trump gave an executive order to remove the 21st amendment... making alcohol illegal again? Some folks wouldn't have a problem with that, but most probably would. There are plenty of folks that would LOVE Trump to remove the right to keep and bare arms? Should he do that? Maybe remove the right not to incriminate yourself (the 5th amendment)? Point being, that when you start picking a choosing what parts of the constitution you want to follow, things can turn badly quickly. As I said, I don't love birthright citizenship. It wouldn't bother me personally if it weren't in the constitution. And there's a method to remove it. Namely, 2/3rds of the HoR and Senate have to vote for it, followed by 3/4ths of the State Legislatures voting for it. THAT'S the way you change it, not by executive order.
We do agree on the fact that there's only one decision that makes any sense. Section 1 of the 14th amendment:

No the EO is the EO. I like it. Glad he did it. Good for the country. Makes sense. Removes another incentive for illegals to try and come here. The amendment was not written with the intent of facilitating what is now happening. It was to ensure citizenship of decendents of slaves as part of the reconstruction. The wording of it (and the original intent) leaves room to challenge the basis by which we grant automatic citizenship for kids of people who come here temporarily (on vacation for example) , or illegally and have no other ties to this country.So the executive order was illegal just to force someone to say it’s illegal?
