LA Fires

Yes, have you seen her do this to any other large American city in our history? Do we have any other examples of hurricanes destroying mountain communities 500 miles from coming ashore? Everywhere you look extreme weather is getting worse and man absolutely played a part in it.
Is it extreme weather or climate change?

Is the warming part that man played a part in worth it? That is, would you give up the progress man has made since the Industrial Revolution to stuff that 1 degree of warming back in the box? I didn’t think so.

Total scam

Where's the proof that she was a climate activist? I've read 6 articles from legitimate news sources and nowhere does it say that about her. But regardless, string her ass up.

Oh wait, I see now. SMH

What changes? We’re cutting fire breaks. We’re doing controlled burns. When you have 10 million people living on the edge of a dense and dry forest, this is what’s gonna happen. Please articulate the things we’re not doing that we should be based on your fire expertise.
This thread and the responses to the fire by conservative actors are some of the dumbest most craven examples of grifting and selfishness I've ever seen.

Absolutely ****ing embarrassing.

This is the correct response. None of that blame passing and excuse making. Accountability or it happens again

Former Wall Street broker Ross Mandell says the Los Angeles Pacific Palisades fires were planned

“I'm gonna shock you. People from BlackRock are going door to door offering to buy homes. — This is highly organized”

“You think this happened by accident? The dams have been emptied by Governor Newsom for no good reason. The hydrants are empty for no good reason.”

“Three months ago, state Farm, the big insurer in LA, just happened to cancel everybody's fire policies because the governor decided not to allow State Farm to increase their prices. So people now have no insurance. Do you think this happened by accident?”

“BlackRock is going door to door, making offers now for cash generous. They want to take everybody's homes. This is the business they're in. It's not as secret. This has been highly organized”

This guy is an idiot. Gee, I dunno, how does a fire cross a freeway? I mean, high winds with burning embers always obey the rules and don’t cross freeways or fire breaks. 🤦

It’s never a logical science & evidence-based argument explanation. Has to be a conspiracy; just has to be. Santa Rosa fire was microwave started…probably from an escaped alien craft from Area 51.

And on top of that, maybe someone did start the fires. But like, people suck. Doesn't mean its a conspiracy either. Means people suck.

Oh, dude, my wife is a SoCal native and UCLA grad--she's grown up in and lived the societal landscape so to speak. This is my second stint in Cali. First was mid-90's in the OC at then Fluor HQ in Irvine. Lived in Monrovia for 14 years before Sacramento the past 5-6 years.

Every place has them, I guess, but there are some seriously disturbed people in LA County. I don't imagine that the lesser stories make the news back East, but it's sadly not uncommon for "normal" seeming folks to start fires intentionally. As I posted earlier, the last time Eaton Canyon burned, it was a homeless guy that started it because he was cold. Certainly, that's not an excuse, but very different than the mentally unstable guy-next-door who is a pyromaniac in his spare time.
Also, I've never lived anywhere like LA County. South Carolina has its share of issues, but people are generally, hard-working, God-fearing, & what they appear to be. LA County is chocked full of people trying to be something they're not and careful to be sure you think they've got their act together despite how they are failing. I've traveled extensively for my career; that area is the greatest concentration of disingenuous/phonies that I've ever experienced. Lie straight to your face and not even flinch.

For sure. One of my direct reports lives in Thousand Oaks, and he told me a few of the fires this time around were started by someone. But not as a conspiracy. He was just telling me a certain set near XYZ were started by someone.

Is it possible it was created by a global conspiracy or an organization? Yes. But also seems likely to me the most likely answer is people suck.

SMACKDOWN ALERT. WOW.

TRUMP, to Congressman BRAD SHERMAN (D-CA): You did something, Brad, where every insurance company is leaving California. You made it so impossible - people like YOU. I'll tell you this - I've never seen a state where so many people have no insurance. They left. And they've been warning you. I don't like the companies, but they've been warning you for a long time. And they said they want water - they don't have any water for fire hydrants.

What a dumbass

Please post a map with the location of this "spigot", tell me how many miles it is from LA and then tell me how they would get it to Southern California.
I'm not here to perform fetch tasks for you. This is correct though.

I'll help you, it's 400 miles and would require a monumental feat of engineering for an unreliable source .... and just a reminder, lack of water was not the issue. It was 100 mph winds that were burning 1000s of homes at the same time, so the pressure dropped because no municipal water system is made to handle a blaze of that magnitude.

California has been dropping the ball for years with lack of infrastructure projects and actually deconstructing dams. You are out of your mind if you think having empty reservoirs and no water coming from the hydrants is acceptable.

That one reservoir would have barely made a dent

What a heartless, unserious dipshit. "I read the papers very well" LOL

Wow!! Furthermore they are right at the fricking pacific ocean....use that water to fight the fires. Canada had to send them planes to scoop water.
They had a couple that they leased but Canada sent more. There are only 160 of those planes in the world so it's not like you can buy 50 just to sit there in case a historic wildfire with 100 mph winds overtakes a city "somewhere." You couldn't fly them anyway when hurricane force winds were blowing, plus there's a reason salt water isn't ideal but I can't remember at the moment.

Saltwater, whether you’re trying to cool an overheated nuclear reactor or put out a forest fire, is truly a “last resort” option.

It’s naturally corrosive, it readily conducts current if you have downed power lines, it leaves chlorides, sulfates and other compounds in the soils long after the fire is out which delays the regrowing/reforestation process, it can cause dispersion of clays leading to increased sediment runoff & mudslides.

It puts out the fire, for sure, but it’s not what you want to use.
