Libertarian Candidate for President

I really struggle to see how our country being a republic is in any way related to the electoral college. We're still electing someone to represent our interests which is, in fact, what a republic is.

You know what else the founders thought? That black people were worth 60% of a white person or 0%, depending on the circumstance. They thought that women shouldn't vote and that only property owners said. They were wrong about a lot and they were wrong about this too. That's why we should just go ahead and change it. I don't find your appeal to tradition in any way compelling.

Im being serious when i ask this. Why stay living in America?

No part of anything I’ve said on here implies I want the status quo or caught up in tradition. I respect and interested in history because it’s factual. I’m not going to hate my countries history because a bunch of white liberals have decided to classify our founding fathers as bad now.

When the left wants to reflect on the past they might want to find better excuses for the millions of deaths due to central planning. I’ll gladly take America’s history over and of the socialist dictators that butchered their populations.

If peoples of different political persuasions are able to find homes within the existing major political, it suggests additional parties are not needed.

You haven't proposed a path forward here, you've just doubled down on Ranked Choice Voting being too complicated. What's the part forward with out electoral reform? How do we get multiple viable parties nationally when a plurality will win nearly every election?

I don't think they are able to find homes. At least not homes they like.

The Democrats have become a party that caters to the far left. And I believe it will cost them the 2020 Presidential election just as it cost them the 2016 election. Biden is the presumptive nominee mainly because he is supposedly center-left and might be able to pull voters from Trump.

But he's also not mentally all there. If they let him debate, he is gonna get killed.

My suspicion is that he'll get paired with a far-left VP candidate (Harris is the presumptive frontrunner), then after he gets elected (assuming he does), he will step down within a year.

I sincerely thought you were better than this sort of argument. "I think something about this country should be different." "THEN MOVE SOMEWHERE ELSE!" Do you not wish government was smaller? THEN LEAVE! Jesus Christ, why should we even exist as a species if we're not trying to better ourselves.

Your appeal to tradition here is citing the Founder's intent and how things are "supposed to be" several times. I just don't care. If how it's supposed to be is stupid, let's fix it. We've amended the Constitution dozens of times and created countless new laws. Things haven't been perfect since the beginning of our nation. WE EVEN STARTED COMPLETELY OVER - that's why we have a Constitution at all.

Asking me why I'm even living here is just so damned lazy I don't even know what to do with you.

Nobody's home is perfect.

Listen, I appreciate your thoughts on 2016 and 2020 but we were talking about paths forward for 3rd parties. If you're not interested in discussing that then no worries; I'm just also not interested in discussing what we thing will happen in this election or how cogent Joe Biden is or isn't.

It’s a valid point about leaving. When America’s taxes reach Europe’s I will most likely move from America. Life is what you make it.

I blame 95% of our countries problems on our governments inability to centrally plan. There is a reason the economic freedom index correlates with higher quality of life. Easy answer, you can’t regulate or tax yourself into prosperity.

Look at Amazon, Apple, Alphabet, and Microsoft. The federal reserve has made those billionaires billions more during the covid. I’m sorry I don’t believe more government is the solution to the problems government makes.

Read about YRC. That shit bankrupt trucking company has been under water since 2008. The United States government just bought 30% of them to keep them a float. (Socialism)

Kids today look at the problems caused by corporate socialism and think more socialism fixes this lol.

Whatever, dude. You're not interested in having a real conversation about the original topic and that's your prerogative. Have a good one.

"Nobody's home is perfect" is the euphemism to end all euphemisms. The current "homes" are equivalent to burned-out shacks.

Ranked Choice - the more I think about it might work IF we cap it at 3-4 candidates. 5 at most. But I picture it at some point turning into the California recall election of about 20 years ago.
