Hey if the jobs are filled, I don't care by who. My wife works in the restaurant industry and finding people to work has been a huge struggle. They are constantly under staffed.
What if rioters cause 3 million dollars worth of damage to the Capitol, including feces smeared on the walls? Will the perpetrators pay for that?

In general, I'm a huge fan of financial penalties and repayment of costs for criminals and shitbags. It should be broadly used to offset the cost these losers levy on the tax base.
Vandalism? Pay it back + inconvenience fees + cost of law enforcement / legal involvement + fine/jail time.
Theft? Pay it back double + inconvenience fees + cost of law enforcement / legal involvement + fine + jail time (and in jail, labor to pay for your keep).
I even apply it to piece of shit dads who don't support their kids or their kids' mothers. That sticks us with the bill (CHIP, Medicaid, Welfare, SNAP, etc.). Hunt them down and garnish their wages until the taxpayers are repaid.
It's very simple. Good, law-abiding taxpayers should not have their resources squandered on these scumbags, whether that be rioters, vandals, thieves, deadbeat dads, etc.
I could agree with much of this. Honestly, our penal system is so bad. We need to decide if the goal is punishment or rehabilitation. How they are handled is completely different.
