Since I'm sick to the point of nausea of these bullshit threads on TWZ, I figured I'd start one where it belongs.
From what I've read, masks offer some protection to the wearer, but nothing close to TOTAL protection. It's accepted that in spite of their shortcomings, they do reduce the intake of others' contaminants, so there is a personal benefit, especially for those of us with "at-risk" close relations.
The primary benefit is that they keep you from spraying an aerosol of your sputum all over others when you cough, sneeze, laugh, speak.
Now, I'd not categorize myself as pro- or anti-mask. It is, to me, a situational thing. If I'm in The Fresh Market (which now is requiring masks), Rush Wilson, or another establishment that caters to a more refined crowd that understands personal space, I'll go mask-less. If I'm in Walmart or Bi-Lo, you're damned right I'll wear it. That's not snobbery, it's common sense and experience.
There are my views on masks. Take them as you will.
Wow. Starting threads on The Round Table isn't hard at all. Especially since every browser on every device offers you the option to open and use multiple tabs simultaneously.
I wonder why so many seem to struggle with it.
