Mayors of Big Ten cities send open letter to conference regarding their coronavirus concerns

America is being destroyed! I go to Seattle once a month and that city is completely gone! Extremely scary as well! Everything is boarded up, graffiti everywhere and the homeless (with their camping tents) have taken over!

I live in a tiny, tourist town (Port Townsend, Washington) that’s mostly an elderly community (transplants who have retired) and we’ve had 81 positive cases in our entire county (approximately 33,000 people) and zero deaths! Yet we’re still in Phase 2 (since May) and our sweet, little family run stores and restaurants are severely suffering if not have already gone out of business! It’s so incredibly sad!

It's all about flattening the curve? One of the many false narratives of 2020. I talked to a friend of mine in NYC and he claims out of 27,000 Bars and Restaurants in NYC, they think that maybe 5,700 will survive. Think about that for a minute, as we flatten the curve called our livelihoods and economy.
Yet most of those people will vote for the party that directly helped the virus kill significantly more people per capita than anywhere else in the country while also ruining them financially. You can't fix stupid.

A few super spreader events might not be a bad thing.

Mayors of Big Ten cities send open letter to conference regarding their coronavirus concerns
By: Nick Bromberg - Yahoo! Sports

Mayors of 11 Big Ten cities have written the conference a letter outlining their concerns about potential coronavirus spikes as the conference begins its football season this weekend.

Big Ten games will not be open to the general public in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the mayors acknowledged in their letter that gatherings and watch parties could increase with football’s return. And, as we all know by now, gatherings of multiple people increase the chances of the spread of coronavirus.

View attachment 112

The Big Ten said in September that it would hold games and practices as long as positivity rates among players and others involved in football programs had positivity rates below a specific threshold. The mayors say in their letter that they would like the conference to also include the positivity rates for their surrounding cities and communities when making the decisions to hold practices and games.

The mayor of Lincoln said in a statement to 1011 Now in the state that she was not involved with the letter because she was unable to participate in a meeting among the mayors of Big Ten cities on Friday.

The Big Ten was the first conference to postpone football this summer. The conference originally said that it wouldn’t be playing football and other fall sports until the spring of 2021 but accelerated those plans in September. Every conference at the top level of college football is playing this fall. The Mountain West begins this weekend too while the Pac-12 and the Mid-American Conference both will start in November.
If at first you don't succeed, try....try again. The Govs couldn't stop college football in
BG10 country now they have the mayors doing their bidding. It's a mocking-bird diatribe.
These mayors should be trying their level best supporting their communities businesses that
have been devastated financially.

tell them to open the store

its time for patriots to start behaving like the democrat commies

law and order is secondary

to fighting for the flag and constitution

They’ve opened as much as they can operating within the guidelines! We literally have residents who turn restaurants, stores and people in if they’re not abiding by the rules! Even if only for a moment! It’s absolutely absurd! But I’ve always supported our sweet, little town as much I can (our restaurants serve the healthiest and best food here!) and try even more so now!

We’ve lost our town grocery store, my favorite breakfast place (never had breakfast like that before!) and a bagel place not to mention numerous stores in town! It absolutely breaks my heart for all of these small, family owned places!

You got a party bailing people out who are actively engaging in terrorism. Every time I see a Biden sign i wonder if they each receive a welcome pack of molotov cocktails and can foods to throw at any passing police officers. These people are terrorists and aren't hiding it

the reason they have been so effective is that they have turned a blind eye to law and order

that is about as dangerous as it can get

especially when taxpayers PAY MONEY FOR THEIR CITY TO PROVIDE LAW AND ORDER

thats why they dont want FEDERAL TROOPS

its THEIR RESPONSIBILITY

remember being a child and you may have to take out the trash every week for a allowance

these democrats were spoiled by getting the allowance without taking the trash out.

SPOILED and DANGEROUS

Have no worries, here comes government to save the day! People are aware of the consequences of the virus for crying out loud. They are going to make decisions based on what they feel are safe. FFS!

Those in the beginning who attempted to say it was indeed political, were roasted, attacked, mobbed.

They were right all along.
If anyone doesn't agree with this truth bomb at this point in time I don't know what they are thinking.

I was indeed skeptical of the politics play initially and just used my gut and the info my wife brought back with her from the hospital where she cares for covid patients. Now that we have had several months of first hand info on it, we are not living in a hole. We are courteous, sanitary, careful, and respectful around others but overall we are pretty much done with Covid in our house. We do what we want and are basically back to normal.

Quick story on how we have progressed in our house......
We had a routine where she wasn't allowed to come in the house on days where she saw covid patients until she stripped down in the garage, threw her scrubs right in the wash, and got in the shower. She wasn't allowed to touch anything. No door handles or anything. I would open the washing machine and she would drop her scrubs in. I would turn on the shower so that she didn't touch the knob or shower door. After she got out we would lysol all of her bags, shoes, cell phone, and water bottle.

Fast forward to today. We don't do ANY of that even after she works on covid patients. Nada. She gets home from work and everything is normal. No cleaning, no shower, no lysol. We are over it.

Somehow when I had COVID, I quarantined at home with my wife and she never got it. Slept in the same bed the entire two weeks, worked from home right next to each other all day each day, she even accidentally used my toothbrush one time. We swapped spit a few times over the two weeks and she never got it. I started showing symptoms on a Saturday night and just that morning (when I was feeling perfectly normal) we had 15 family members over for a birthday party for at least 4 hours. None of them ever got it as well.

Obviously people have had different experiences but at that party there were 3 individuals over the age of 70. And since we were family there were no masks and no social distancing, just enjoying time spent together.

How many of the "spikes" in cases across the country are from college campuses reopening with mandatory testing?

I know that Clemson and U of SC combined have accounted for over 10,000 positive tests and to my knowledge none of them died and the large majority saw extremely mild or no symptoms.

That means:
0.12% of all US cases for the calendar year 2020 came from 2 South Carolina campuses in the span of 1.5 months.

To me that number is pretty dang substantial considering the time frame it came combined with the lack of deaths and hospitalizations from it.

Tells me that Trump nailed it. We are getting more cases because more people are being required to get tested even though they show no symptoms. That was not the case back before August.

So to give a little different perspective on this, we had a get together with a few people this past weekend and to watch the Clemson game. 14 of us total present and we think 10 of us caught the VID once all test results come back today (6 have already had positive test results) Luckily we often have grandparents with us to watch and luckily we did not this weekend. So - is it the end of the world for us? No. We all feel like we have the flu - and hopefully this will put this behind us. My only point is people that know they need to be careful need to take all measures around others as much as possible. Luckily all of us are healthy or are young kids but dont know what else we could have done to be safe. Thinking maybe the take out food someone brought over may have been the culprit as not one of us knew someone with Covid and strange that everyone that ate the particular food seems to have symptoms. Just be careful and mainly be mindful of our older generation, especially when it comes to group settings.

Data doesn't lie.
Clemson and U of SC had spikes in cases for about 3 weeks. They are both in great shape now.
U of SC opened first. They spiked and came down.
Clemson opened as U of SC was on the mend. Clemson spiked and came down.
But I guess the media and the BIG only want to look at the science when it supports their views......
So freaking glad I live in the southeast during all of this.

So where was the watch party concern for the Detroit Tigers in the MLB playoff or the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA playoff?

When huge protests took place and you no longer heard anything regarding Covid protocol (social distancing, wearing masks etc) that right there should have been a sign how political this all is!

Unfortunately people just believe what they hear and don’t do their own research etc! Try to find and follow unbiased journalists to get the truth and hardcore facts!

Maybe Justin Fields won’t have a chance to finish his Heisman campaign. Prayers sent to Nebraska’s D this weekend. You best believe Day will have Fields in there until the clock strikes zero, padding those stats.
Maybe he will be the first ever recipient of the new “theoretical Heisman” to go along with OSU’s “theoretical natty”
