I was scrolling through Netflix and they recommended a movie I had not heard of - My All American. I started watching it and it was a decent flick. It was made by some of the same people who made Hoosiers and Rudy.
I had never heard of Freddie Steinmark but he was a Texas football player in the late 1960s. Undersized. Heart of a champion. Dabo would have loved him!
Anyway, I won't go into what happened to him but just know that even today Texas football celebrates and remembers Steinmark. In fact, Texas players will touch his memorial before heading out of the tunnel to the field of Daryl K. Royal Stadium. The scoreboard was also named in his honor as well.
So if you want to learn some Texas football history, along with a pretty good true story, it's not a bad thing to watch. Here is the preview FYI.
