I thought the original premise of NIL was that schools were making money off of the name, image, and likeness of players (i.e one of the reasons the NCAA football video game went away). Ed O'Bannon brought a lawsuit and won.
How have we moved from the schools are making money off of the players' NIL and arrived at paying college players with endorsement deals outside of the school? If significant regulation doesn't start, we may not recognize college football in 5 years.
