@Cris_Ard asked me to start the post for offseason baseball discussion this year. Now that the season is over, we will start to see some transfers happening both ways. AS of 6/5/2023, the following players are transferring out of Clemson.

Billy Amick -starter first baseman - TENNESSEE
Hogan Garner - redshirted catcher - COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON
Gavin Abrams - Sophomore OF - OLD DOMINION
Jay Dill - Sophomore relief pitcher - TROY
Jack Reynolds - Redshirted INF -

Incoming transfers
Matthew Marchal - RHP - Wofford
Andrew Ciufo - INF - Georgetown
Jimmy Obertop - C/1st - Michigan
Alden Mathes - OF/LHP - Richmond
Jacob Hinderleider - MIF - Davidson
Lucas Mahlstedt - RHP - Wofford

Right now there are rumors of 2 transfer infielders being committed, as well as a cacther. I am especially estatic about the catcher, because honestly I just don't see a lot of promise with Jarrell other than the occasional HR. We really need a proven commodity behind the plate going into next year.

In my opinion, team needs
  • As many power arms as we can get
  • A veteran or 2 for the infield, otherwise the majority of the infield will be either freshmen or RS freshmen (besides Amick)
  • I would get an OF, and preferable one with some pop in the bat.
The next big date as far as Clemson is concerned is July 7-9, which is the MLB draft. The current players with draft aspirations are below. Remember, guys drafted in the first 10 rounds almost always sign with their team.
  • Caden Grice (He is a lock to get drafted.
  • Cooper Ingle (also a lock to get drafted)
  • Blake Wright (seems to have a higher profile than what I have seen)
  • Ryan Ammons

The recruits we have coming in that are in danger of being drafted
  • Dillon Head - OF (Will be drafted in the first round and will sign)
  • Sam Stafura - SS (Will be an early round draft pick and will sign)
  • Justin Leguernic - LHP (Will be drafted and sign in my opinion, but his draft project is very different depending on where you look)
  • Jarren Purify - SS (Most recent activity looks better for him to make it to campus, but not a done deal by any means)
  • Aiden Knaak - RHP (a few places are pretty high on him, and I do not have a good grasp on it quite yet.

I will keep the original post updated as well, once we get more information into the offseason. I look forward to more baseball talk as we head into Team 127!
