I had a 300 upper level class at Clemson that I frequently cut. I had had the professor for three prior courses with an A twice and one B, and he did not require attendance. One week, two or three friends in the class told me that the prof said that all students had to attend the next class …even me. As I entered the class, the prof was standing at his podium preparing his notes and all the other students shouted in unison, “April Fools!!” Joke was on me with loud laughter from other students and the prof.
On serious note, I should have attended more often. I liked the prof and my behavior was disrespectful. Some things it just takes experience to learn.
