I found out a few weeks ago that the family tree on my mother’s side has been traced back to Stephen Hopkins, one of the 56 delegates who signed the Declaration of Independence.
Hopkins, who had palsy, signed the Declaration by holding his right hand with his left and saying, “My hand trembles, but my heart does not.”
Also found out a few years back that my father’s family tree can be traced back to Thomas Rolfe, who was the only son of English settler John Rolfe and his wife Pocahontas.
Anyone else?
