OT: John McCain Strikes again

lol at using the goddamn bible of all things to explain why you want to take healthcare away from 32 million people.

obamacare is flawed but ultimately good legislation. the republicans' inability to create an even halfway decent alternative only solidifies it.

Your opinions on healthcare policy and poverty are very well considered and certainly the result of intelligence and empathy.

He will feel that way until it's his ass/family that's impacted. Similar to the states (Cruz) who voted against assisting the Northeast states when Sandy hit a few years ago. Same assholes now singing a different tune after Irma.

They believe in Supply-Side Jesus. "Lepracy is a matter of personal responsibility. If people knew I was healing the Lepers, there would be no incentive to avoid Lepracy."

It's pretty simple but you wouldn't understand.
KJV
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Since you want to go there, read I Timothy 6:17-19 (and pay particular attention to 18). But maybe you just want to pull out a verse that supports your view??

My view is to help those in need. Both financially, spiritually, and any other way. I'm talking about the majority of the people that has no desire to work because they're giving everything they need. Here is a great place that I've given to both in time and financially that I believe in. It changes people's lives. Started off feeding about 10 people every night Monday thru Friday. Now averaging about 150 a night. But it does alot more than that. Yes right here in Easley, South Carolina. So before anyone is judging me because of what I believe you better know what you're talking about first. Now you ask yourself are you making a difference?

Good for you and I wish you much success in your charitable endeavors. To answer your question, yes I am making a difference but would avoid making a public display of what those things are. That being said, the work in progress is aimed more towards getting people actual employment versus feeding them because they don't have work (not that there's anything wrong with that). From my view, I believe that there isn't a "majority" of the people that have no desire to work. To me, it's a common refrain for folks looking to drive a particular narrative - you are in a place because you choose to be - which isn't remotely true in far more cases than we would like to admit.

Good for your work also. Evidently you didn't read the link. We've built 24 homes for the homeless on the land at the dream center. It's a 3 step program that will take them off the streets and teach them for a job that they can perform. At the end will even help find them a job and a place to stay. Just one of the many programs they offer. By the way we disagree about the majority that doesn't want to work. The economy is booming if you're not working now it's because you don't have a desire to.

I'm a type 1 diabetic and a conservative, but any bill that doesn't REQUIRE all insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions is garbage. Kudos to McCain.
I was born with heart defect and have mostly voted republicans throughout my life but I just can't support what the republican party has become. It's become a party for healthy white men under the age of 50.

Agreed 100%

My 10 year old daughter is, too. Keep up the fight! You have a Dexcom?
