My son recently got a speeding ticket in Georgia - 84 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. On the ticket, the officer didn't give the fine or the points associated with the ticket. The only detail he gave was the court date. My son's issue is that he will be in school in Louisville when his court date is scheduled.
Any recommendations for what he should do? Is it worth driving from Louisville to Georgia for the court hearing? Are they likely to reduce the fine and/or points? Or, is it worth reaching out to the officer to explain the situation to see if he will reduce anything in exchange for not showing for court?
