OT: Tonsils Question

Has anyone on the board had their tonsils removed as an adult recently? If so what was the recovery time, pain level, return to work estimation etc... My wife is about to have the procedure and the Dr. said it would take around and hour and done as an outpatient. I had mine removed as a child but that's been a long time ago. TIA for any insight.
