Y'all do realize the Arab Spring in 2010 and 2012 was driven primarily via Twitter.

Talk about something crazy that Musk may own one of the largest media companies internationally. It doesn't get close in the US to the others, but globally this is going to be insane.

That if Musk is the big swinging Free Speech stick he professes (and I believe he is), will be interesting to see who else is partaking.
Sure it’s for the investment primarily but this has societal/culture impacts.

Also, Elon likes to gamble, but he typically doesn't do it with his own money much.

Imagine people being ok with censoring information. Remember when we made fun on N. Korea for their propaganda? If it's false, then people will see it and not believe. Hiding info makes me wonder why you hide it.

Censoring information is just absolutely dangerous and not ok, IMO. I cant imagine anyone being ok with that.

Not his money. He came up with some, but he is using Venture Capital money for the majority
Venture capitalists don't invest in publicy traded companies. Perhaps he is partnering with a buyout shop, but VCs don't play in deals like that. Regardless Elon is putting up many billions of dollars of personal wealth for this deal. It wouldn't surprise me if he went alone on the equity component and then financed some with debt.

ok then...............................

He also replied heavily on investment and government to make it happen
That wasn't your point. You said he doesn't take many risks with his money, which is completely false. He's bet his wealth time and time again.

I can understand why people don't like him, but I think he should be respected for the risks he has taken.

Listened to him on Rogan. He gained a ton of respect from me. Things I did not know about him. How he was damn near broke after throwing everything towards Tesla. All the different areas he has gone into now. Very interesting guy that's living the ultimate dream

Given the hysteria from talking heads on the left, I don’t think so
Talking heads on cable news and people that live on social media, and wake up in the morning looking for something to be outraged over, don't represent the majority of people in this country, or even close to it.

For example, when all the airlines last week announced they were removing their mask requirements on planes, the majority of responses on twitter were of the "You're awful. I'm never flying your airline again" variety. Yet, when I flew this past weekend, I'd say easily less than 10% of the passengers on the plane were even wearing masks.

I mean sure, there are going to be people that freak out on Twitter over this Musk buyout, and you'll find plenty of good material to laugh at, but like everything else, that collection of people are a very small minority.

Twitter isn’t real life thankfully.

Haven't been on twitter in years. Does it still have limited characters for tweets? I'm sure old #45 is getting pumped about being let back on.

FTR, I am all for Elon getting this deal done. He is the man and the board members of Twitter suck.

Having said that, Twitter is not the US Government. They are a platform with their own rules. Twitter censorship has nothing to do with the 1st amendment.

IDK if it's the ultimate dream. He works the kind of hours that take years off his life. Has very complicated personal relationships (to be complimentary). He frequently suffers depression and lives under soul-crushing stress every single day.

He is as driven as any person who has walked the planet, but I don't think that equates to much happiness.

I don't disagree with the fact that they're not the government and can really do what they want. Just strange to me we are in a world where hiding the truth is becoming accepted and telling the truth is "conspiracy theory".

Conspiracy theory now means anything that the mainstream media isn't talking about. Just very weird and not normal. But I digress.

twitter is not state run, it's just astounding that people can't wrap their heads around this

Also, certain things 100% need to be censored. There is some truly awful and evil stuff on the internet

you completely ruin your credibility by using the phrase "hiding the truth". Shows your bias

He is a true visionary and is absolutely very driven. I think he is one of those people that can't relax easily. He does have Aspergers so maybe that has something to do with it
